Dear owners/experts,

I am willing to buy S900 with wookong and nex 5 to use it for geo mapping and surveillance. I have few questions as I am totally new to dji products.

1. Which radio do u recommend to use with it? I am thinking frsky taranis x9d.

2. It will mostly fly in auto using pc GCS with Datalink. Which Datalink do you recommend 2.4ghz or 900mhz?

3. If I go for 2.4ghz Datalink, will it interfere with radio control?

4. Anyone tried 3dr ardupilot telemetry module with wookong? It just needs a serial link then it should work imo.

5. Nex 5 will be used for taking still pics. Is there a way to geo tag them using wookong, if so, how exactly?

6. I am also looking for brushless gimbal cheaper than z15 but effective. The cam would pointing exactly downward most of the time. What do you think about arris 2 axis Brushless Gimbal for nex 5?

Thanks in advance

Happy flying

1. Futaba 8FG or 14SG
2. Up to you, I have 2.4. 900 might go a bit further, but beyond reach of radio.
3. No, you use both at once, like you can take off with radio then use laptop/tablet to initiate waypoint flying etc.
4. haven't tried
5. Not using Wookong, you need a separate geologger to match up the images afterwards. Easy to do though.
6. The Arris gimbal is very good, I have one. A viable cheap alternative to Zenmuse.

I can second that, Taranis with S-buss + 8 addition standard outputs is the way to go, and you can buy three of them for the cost of a Futaba.

But just a few weeks ago I installed 5.20 which worked ok. But in the last few days in hover it wants to wonder in GPS mode. In almost no wind it will move 10ft to the left and then slowly move 5 to 10ft to the right trying to hold a fix hover location. I re-calibrate the compass almost every time I fly but that's what it acts like. It also when plugged in , takes 5 to 6 minutes to locate 7 or more satellites. Before I upgraded to the newer 5.20 it never took that long. Next in GPS mode when flying in forward flight and then center the joystick to stop forward movement. The S800 will not only stops but will start to go backwards for 8 to 10 ft before it tries to hover then that's when it starts to wonder around very slowly trying to find a fix hover point. All the time it shows great GPS reception, no white lights do to vibrations. With all this it does not lose altitude in hover. My Y6 with the DJI Wookong M fly's rock solid. No issues but it still has the version that was installed over year ago like 5.14 version. It always flew great so why upgrade. So now I wonder about putting the old version back in the S800.I have not tried the 5.22 version do to I do not have the new LED. My gain setting are the same as yours, which I got out of the latest DJI manual. On last item I did notice after I up graded to 5.20 it would not fly in a straight line. I had to rotate the GPS 10 degrees CCW to get it to track a straight line.Never had that problem on any of my Wookong M's before. Has anyone ever had a GPS antenna go bad on them. This has never been in a crash but you never know.
So any thoughts on the fix on these problems
Go4It...did you ever fix the flying straight problem?

I never have fixed the crabbing issues. One of the reasons I can't use it for aerial surveying...
