Tethered Trainer and Tiger Shark rc conversions

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/attac...mentid=2766500

Hi, wing ribs cutted, today fuse formers and wing tips.
Just loving the looks of this old c/l trainer. And decided to built it with rc.
Ailerons will be added so it will act more like light weight sports trainer.
span will be about 85inch so its almost 2,5 times bigger than original.
Construction is so straight forward, so this should not take so much time.

http://www.theplanpage.com/Months/2602/ttcl.htm

engine will be 4-stroker 90 glow and covering Oracover transparent green, with some high lights and military style shark mouth.

Neither do I, I must be crazy

I enlarged the Tioer Shark plan 150% to build an electric rc version. I plan on building it some time this year.

Good luck on your Tethered Trainer conversion.

Hi Jukka

I hope to start on it in 2011 and I will post it in the Vintage & Old-Timer Designs thread.

Yes the wing span is about 55" and should weigh less then 1.4 kg AUW

Here is the motor I will be using:

Here's a photo of my friends TT, he has built 3 of them from the BlackHawk kit. One is as per the original and is control line, the other RC and electric and a FF version..all fly well
I suspect an enlarged version will be a really good performer!...will be watching your build for sure.
Paul Howkins (maybe spelt wrong) does a plan for an enlarged Tiger Shark, one of the chaps up at our patch has built one and it does look and fly nice.

I have seen the Tiger Shark fly control line, at the Vintage Stunt Champs in Tucson a few years ago. It had an OS40 FP on it, and flew great. It was not real fast like you would think, but had a great glide, making about 2 full circuits after the engine quit. I believe the fellow that built it, got the kit from Stanzel. It had wooden wheels and all. Sure would be neat with an Ohlsson 60 sideport. A very stable flyer.
