Fpv setup questions - can you help?
I am just getting into the hobby and wish to fly fpv.
I have decided on a Bixler 2 for the first plane.
I am having some difficulty selecting the rest of the equipment.
I would like to be able to fly ideally in a 2 mile radius to begin with.
I seek high performance but am constrained by how much I can afford to spend.
I am interested in using the fat shark goggles.
Is anyone prepared to speculate on what bits I would need to get to get it all working?
I know I need a tx and rx, good battery, antennae, camera, etc etc
But don't know how to make sure it all works together. Higher definition camera is obviously a bonus, but I can't stretch to a go pro just yet.
What's a cost effective way of getting it to be able to fly back home?
Any help greatly appreciated, I will get the plane and transmitter first, so looking for 4 chan transmitter with ability to pan the camera in future.
I have become very familiar with flying in a couple of different simulators and feel confident I can take off, fly around and land safely.
Any tips appreciated!

My biggest tip is read read read. There is a lot of great information out there if you are willing to put in the time you will be successful. But if you aren't then you might want to save yourself the time and money and just skip this hobby.

The more you read and research, the more it all falls into place in your mind and before you know it you will have a shopping list made.

I am inclined to believe LOS flying is something of a remnant of the past, or atleast rapidly heading that way. A good range test to prove the AV system, and theres no reason a person cannot FPV from the start. My opinion anyway. the younger generation has been flying FPV on thumbsticks since ace combat for PS2 came out. I know many will disagree, but its happening anyway. Once upon a time, most RC pilots were real life pilots first. its coming full circle now. The ONLY reason to fly LOS is in the event of video failure, not to discount that benefit... but its just 1 more reason to crash land due to hardware failure.
To OP, theres 2 kinds of control, stock 2.4ghz and "the rest". Simply put, stock 2.4ghz is good for half a mile on a good day, atleast for a novice. The veterans have their tricks, but more importantly, they have their failsafes ($$).
"the rest" is going to cost you, so if theres a budget involved, you can rule that out for now.
Not to worry, theres plenty of fun to be had in half a mile.
9xr radio, frsky 2.4ghz module, 400mw 5.8ghz tx/rx, pz0420 camera, phillips 9" slave monitor. youre in the air.

A lot of research is in your future.
For what's it worth, here's what it took me to fly 7km (4.25 'miles) via fpv. (Personal best)
Motor - NTM 2836 1800 kv
Prop - 7x5 e
ESC - HK 30 Amp
SBEC - Turnigy 5v/5amp
Storm OSD with RTH
Security Camera 2000 600 TVL 2.8mm lens
ImmersionRC 600 mw Vtx
RMRC LC filter
IBCrazy Skew Planar (4 Lobes)
Adjustable CNC Aluminum Motor Mount
Rudder & Elevator Servo moved to tail
Carbon rod added to horizontal stabilizer
Wing Mount screws Removed
Wing Mount Magnet Hold System. (See my build video)
LED position lights
Gopro 3 white
Haier 7inch LCD TV
BEVRC PV700 DVR
Fatshark SD Base model Goggles
ImmersionRC Diversity Receiver 5.8 ghz
IBcrazy Skew Planar 5.8 ghz
IBCrazy 5 turn Helical 5.8 ghz
FrSky XJT JR TX Module
FrSky D8R-XP RX 8CH
2 Watt Wifi Booster 2.4ghz
6 dbi Omni Directional Ant
My wife better never see this post
But the above is easily north of $1,500 and I haven't even touched on building tools, batteries, chargers and materials.
BUT it's so damn fun and worth it.
