The nose gear is the weak spot on this plane.I have shimmed up the plate that holds the gear into the nose. With a few shims and plenty od foam safe CA, its pretty solid.

I removed the old nosewheel assembly and replaced it with the Dubro nosewheel kit. Its just a piece of roundstock with a coiled up part to give it some spring. I will fit into the slot that the old nosegear was in but will need some shimming with tape and a few drops of CA but it will be solid.

Im afraid my time with this plane is up. I was stupidly flying today and it was really windy. I wasnt able to recover the plane and it was gusted away from me and I never was able to find it. I like this model so much I just might buy another.

R.I.P 5 fuselage changed Cessna.

Oh man, that's a real bummer. I'm very sorry to hear of your loss. I have lost them before as well and it just plane stinks. Hopefully soon you'll get another one.

I can imagine. No telling how many miles it could have traveled. Again, I feel your pain and am truly sorry you lost your plane.
One thing people like to do is to write down your phone#, address name . General info under the wing or on a piece of paper taper inside the fuselage.

Take care,
John.

Trying to improve on weaknesses

I like this plane but it seems somewhat underpowered and a bit difficult to take off or land on my grass runway.

Can anyone suggest a mod to give it more power?

Can I just remove the wheels and wheel pants and use DuBro 2.5" wheels to make it easier to use a grass runway?

Thank you

You may not want to do this but I removed the landing gear completely. It belly lands very well in the grass. The reduced drag in noticeable as well.

Just remove the wheel pants on the mains and put bigger tires on. However... you will have issues getting a bigger wheel on the nose nless you use a different setup as specified previously. In any case, mine is for sale with the landing gear mod
