Question
One-handed, one-stick radio out there?

Hi, guys

I was wondering if anyone knew of an available transmitter that can be held and operated easily with one hand and thumb, leaving the other hand completely free. I only need one channel for steering a parasail. Perhaps there is something with the wand-like form factor of the Rookie Flyer tx?

Thanks

Here's a kiter's version. http://arch.ced.berkeley.edu/kap2/php/wind/?p=34 I think you would have to build your own.

I was looking for the same type of transitter, but I would like it to control a RC car.

I found this Wii remote

Wiimote RC-Car Control

http://www.schoeppl.info/en/software...r-control.aspx

My Idea would be to have one control like a small steering wheel which can be tilted forwards and backwards for speed forwards + reverse.

I have no Idea how this could be done.

There used to be single-stick radios with a wheel on the gimbal similar to what smee0000 describes.

If you cntact Radio South... they may be able to come up with the parts from the old Kraft single stick radios to do a conversion of a modern radio. The parts are pretty hard to find now....

I do not know what is needed for an Aeroplane, but I guess left and right tilt could be added.

skyflyer,

You could build your own encoder for an existing transmitter. Im doing the same thing myself. In the end I will have a joystick that can plug into a buddy port of an r/c radio.

My plan is to take a MCU and read the pots on the joystick. Convert the readings into a PPM stream and then input that into the trainer port. You can see the thread where I talk about it here: http://www.rc-cam.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=1988

Strange - you get a perfectly good 9Z, gut it out and put the contents in an ugly box with all the switches in a hard to reach location ...

@fhhuber506771

I looked at this site after you posted.

This page was not easy to find because of the poor structure of the site.

This is the reason for posting a direct link.
I think that is also useful for people who are using google to search for this topic.

The Futaba 3FR or Hitec Neon SS could be easily adapted for one handed flying. They're only three channel systems though.

Alternatively, you can get a radio tray.

I thought Neon was the one you could add parts to and make it up to 5 channel...

Four channel actually. Just a switch which I believe is sold separately. You can also upgrade it for dual rates as well.
