Receiver Overheating?

Hello

I think that my reciever is overheating. I have a Spektrum SR3300t reciever. It has telemetry. It draws quite a bit of power and generates some heat at idle because of the telemetry. I recently upgraded my servo to a high power and high voltage one. I had to get an external BEC to run it because of the current it pulled. According to the reciever specs say that it can handle it, but after about 15mins of running on my first run it started glitching like crazy, a brown out every few seconds. I brought it in and opened the RX box and it was extremely hot, you couldn't touch it for long. I let it cool off for a while. When it was almost room temperature I started driving again, and when it started glitching again the RX was just as hot as before. What can I do about it? I need the sealed RX box because I drive mostly in sand, and the ambient temperature outside is upwards of 100*.

Thanks, Zane

It's much easier to get a concise answer if you only post in one section...

What voltage are you powering the RX with, you mention you have a high voltage servo... are you powering the receiver with 7.4v? You can directly power the servo off the main lipo pack so the power isn't flowing through the receiver too.

Okay. I will try powering it directly. I am using a BEC though because my main pack is 4s

Oh, don't power it with 4s... I thought you were running 2s. You'll fry the servo in a big hurry on 4s.

What voltage are you feeding the receiver? What voltage is the servo getting?

7 or 7.4 volts. My telemetry and BEC settings don't agree

Is the receiver rated for 7.4v? Unless it's marked as high voltage you should only run receivers on 6v max.

Regardless, I would power the servo directly off the BEC, not through the receiver and see if that helps with the heat. It will definitely lessen the amount of current flowing through the receiver.

Okay. It is rated for up to 9.6 volts, but it says nothing about current ratings

I would power the servo from the BEC directly and see if that helps.
