New Build Of Republic Seabee
Grabbed a set of Seabee Plans on the web and decided to convert it to CAD for cutting. Took about 10 hours to draw it out. Sent to AK models for laser cutting. I have done a few mods as I build it. I have a removable wing. I built a box with ply wing spars to support some CF shafts and decided to put a little dihedral in the wings. Still working on a removable cockpit to give access to inner fuse and battery.Here are some pics thus far.

Those are the parts I am using for the checking weight and CG right now.

Trying to finalize all the cuts on the cockpit before I start work on the wings.
Here is the removable cockpit. It should give a lot of access in the fuse to mount and maintain any parts that will be installed. Disregard the small piece of balsa under the cockpit base. It is just temporarily holding the upper 3/16 stringer in place till I decide on the final position.
Here is a pic of the cockpit base that will be glued to the stringer and tops of the fuse formers.
Here is the prototype cockpit sitting on that base. It will have bamboo dowels and a rare earth magnet to hold it in place.

I've been working on the wing mount and canopy. I got the canopy worked out and the wing mount. The cad cuts on the wing mount came out very precise. I used cf rods with brass inserts and will use small screw applied tabs to hold it in place. I am using an OS 3825 for the power which should be around 400 watts. The plane OAW so far is 30 oz. with motor and battery in place. Here are some pics of the progress.

It is a lot like a puzzle.
I like to change the model as I go. I have certain solutions to problems in my initial cad drawings and laser cuts. I build my original parts, decide if they are the right solutions, then I modify them to actual build problems. I then modify my master cad file to reflect those changes. I also try to do justice to the original scale design. Since I design most models to be electric powered I have to adjust the designs to make for maintenance in the event of electric component failure.
