Can i ask where your tow hook is in the slot ?

For winch towing, I use about 3-5 mm ahead of the aft end of the slot. For a good handtow team, I put the towhook all of the way aft.

What Joe said. Measured both models this morning and found both are at around 4-5mm in front of the rear of the slot. When Joe is throwing at the J WC, it goes all the way back.
Without putting the model together launch flap is only around 12mm IIRC, and I do have the flaps going a couple of mm lower than the ailerons to allow for some blowback.

Forgot to mention like JW said that the hook position is tension dependant. So when practicing from a bungee the hook goes fwd to about middle of the slot for safety.

Joe & Les were kind enough to give me advice when I was originally setting up my Supra Pro Comp (103mm CG & hook is 3mm from rear of slot). It launches and flies sweeeeeet.

Forgot to mention... the elevator setting on launch is the same as the cruise elevator trim setting.

As noted above, the towhook location should be dependent on the expected launch tension. More tension, and the hook can go further aft.

Morning Everyone - I will move the tow hook 5mm from the rear of the the slot this afternoon,must say that seems a long way backthink my other glider tow hook was about 3 mm in front of the CG.

Here is a summary of my starting setup, based roughly on what Boagy & Joe measured from JW Supra Pro in 2011 (any deviations you can blame on me...). My towhook could go back some, sure JW was further back.

CG 103mm behind LE

Towhook position a little rear of central in slot

All throws linear

ALL MODES:

Elev throws +/- 11mm at TE with neutral approx 38mm above top of boom
Rudder throws +/- 50mm at TE
Aileron->flap mix about 50% at dihedral break, all modes (before setting diff)
Elev->flap/aileron mix about +/-7mm at wing CL, for full elev throws

CAMBER:

Speed mode: lower surfaces approx tangential across hinge line
Cruise mode: upper surfaces approx tangential across hinge line
Thermal mode: about another +2mm at CL
Launch mode: +10mm at CL (relative to cruise). Slightly less than a match at dihedral break

All modes: more camber travel on slider, about +/-3mm (+ elevator trim mix)

AILERON THROWS + DIFFERENTIAL:

Approx +/-13mm at dihedral break in all modes, but as modified by differential

Speed mode: almost no differential

Thermal mode: Enough differential that down-going aileron matches
flap TE deflection at break (so as not to stall inner wing tip with
adverse aileron when circling)

Cruise mode: differential halfway between speed and thermal

Launch mode: 100% differential (no downwards deflection)

AILERON -> RUDDER MIX

Approx +/- 10mm rudder throw with max aileron throw, less in thermal
(because more differential used)

Landing and launch mode: 100% aileron->rudder

Right, took some measurements tonight for you. Reading are in mm from the top of the boom to the top of the elevator TE.

Neutral = 40mm
Speed/reflex = 39.7mm (moved just little down)
Launch = 39mm
Full up = 56mm
Full down = 24mm
Full down with landing flap = 10mm

Also measured launch flap, I had a little more than I thought, 14mm down.

You sure that elevator setting for Speed/reflex wasn't 39.75mm Les

I set my entire trailing edge to that of the Supra Template. I set Flap Diff so that the flaps are locked regardless of Aileron movement. Aileron Diff set so that only upward travel is permitted. I set Aileron-to-Rudder rates quite high. On windy days you can pull the trailing edge up by half, partly to reduce loading on glass outer panels but mainly to get up the line faster.

I have my flaps working as Ailerons which move up and down a little less than the Ailerons.
