thanks! yes I took out a deep pot, heated the water to almost boiling, tested with the front of the nose to make sure it wasnt popcorning, and then dipped the whole thing in up to the pilots control panel (with the plastic canopy removed, that plastic doesnt handle the hot water as well as foam).
I tried to leave it submerged as long as possible but I think I only managed 3-5mins. Also a bit of massaging (using gloves of course).

I was surprised how good it came out, I wasnt expecting it to resemble anything like the original shape.

Did you try liquid solder flux?
Solder tip tinner/cleaner.
Enough heat?
Small diameter rosin-core solder?

Terribly off topic but driving me nuts. What's that model in your avatar? Who makes it? How does it fly?

I did the light coating of Elmer's on the bottom. I did the nose area to behind the cannons, the tail skid area and the wing tips. Flew it 3x's and it worked like a charm, not even a grass stain.

Whichwaysup that looks like a 35mm Skyangel's. They make several 35 and 50mm EDF's.

I had the Mig-15 and it only flew well on 3s and it was a handful. 2s was extremely tail heavy. The 50mm are great. I've had the AMX, F-22 and Mig-15.

I belive that is nitro's own scratch built 30mm Hawk.
