Unlimited vertical and so quiet you could not even hear it with other models.
I used the stock tail pipe.
Anmazing simply amazing performance.

keithsr what batteries are you using?
I'm running Gens Ace batteries, 8s 30c. Not XPS but pretty good batteries.

keithtsr,

Thansk for the info! Are you using the reccomended 1485kV HET motor as well for the 8S setup? Do you think a Castle ICE 100 would do the trick?

Also, what kind of flight time are you seeing with this setup?

Yes defiantly go with the 1485 motor. Just because I had it, I am running a 160HV castle. Maybe that's a little over kill but better to be safe than using a fire extinguisher! I would at least go with a 120.

I'm no expert but why push your esc to the max, it just doesn't make sense to me.

I flew yesterday for about 3 minutes, mixed throttle and had 63% left in the batteries. I made 4 high speed passes with big loops after the pass. I think if a pilot just flew wide open he/she would have 4 minutes minimum. I think it's not realistic to fly it wide open for a couple reasons. It's nice to stretch the batteries and this thing is deceiving with it's speed. It's so quiet it just doesn't sound like it's going fast but in reality it's moving pretty quick and you need to get off the throttle to make the turns.

I'm using a Hobby Wing 120 Platinum ESC very smooth running ESC. I have it mounted through the bottom of the fuse under the battery tray.

I'm running 5300 Gens Ace packs, 30C. I also have my esc mounted under the battery tray but I have the fins sticking out the belly. Did I mention it was better to be safe....than good with a fire extinguisher. lol

I think the Hobby Wing/Turnigy 120 is a good choice.

My oldest son will be in town tonight. He has a stock Habu (converted a heli pilot), I have one with a Stu and one with a TJ 80. I hope to get some video or at least post some numbers.

Do the 5300's fit ok in there? I am currently trying to decide between the Stu and TJ80. Got the $ ready. Just can't make up my mind So I am looking forward to your comparison. Thanks for the info!

Yes both packs fit...well they do now. I lowered the battery tray down about 3/4 of an inch and stack the batteries.

I have conducted a little comparison in my shop. I'll know more when I finally get the TJ 80 up, retracts have been a problem. The TJ 80 has the 1409 motor installed from Tam, very easy set up, very smooth fan.

Hi Keithtsr
What retracts did you use?
Cheers
Steve.

I just amaze myself sometimes. Sorry Steve, I'll explain in a minute, on the one with the TJ 80, I'm using the Eflite 25-46. On my Stu bird I thought I was using the Eflite 15-25.

A while ago I was in the shop looking for my little Eflites, all I could find was the 15 to 25 size, man I looked everywhere. Well I found them there in the 1st Habu with about 20 landings on them. They still work like a champ. In my defense they do look a like.

Old age sucks!

Update,

I'm getting really close to 100 flights on my Habu 32.

First 20 or so were with stock power and Tam struts.

Next 75 or so were with TJ 80 plug n play 1509.

Last 3 were with Stumax plug n play 8 cell set up.

The power seems very similar to the TJ 80, but the Stumax is incredibly quiet.

The airframe in flight seems to make more sound than the Fan/motor.

Thanks Stu, you have a really cool product.
