FMS Grumman F6F Hellcat 1400mm

Hey guys,

as I indicated earlier this year or even last year, FMS told me they would continue the Pacific lineup after the F4U Corsair (and the P40 )

Well, there will be two planes ready by the end of this May!

One of them is the F6F Hellcat that has been shown on some Asian toy fair apparently, together with its counterpart, the Mitsubishi A6M Zero.

Enjoy the pics and look for the Zero thread if you are interested...

Cheers,
Bernhard

Bernhard-- I saw the Hellcat in the background of one of the pics I posted of the new 800mm warbirds and wondered what size it was. Time for me to add a Hellcat to the hangar.

I sure wish they would get the proportions of the national insignia right. It's not like there isn't enough documentation out there!

Tom, actually I believe that this paintjob (as well as the Zero's) is Beta, just look at it closely...

Cheers,

Looks like the mouth is hand painted on that sample. The bars on the insignia do look a little short but at least it is not upside down like some venders.

The whole thing looks just slightly unfinished like a test shot. The foam isn't to the usual FMS standard of smoothness. Looks good overall though. I can't wait to see what you do with this one Tom

I hope they stick with this scheme. It's the one I would choose.Hummm,I'll bet that a Skyraider will be on it's way eventually too. That one will be in my hanger if it does.

Bounce— There is a new big Skyraider out. I think it's available from either Easytiger or Banana. There's a thread on here.

Just as you mention it, I recall seeing other prototypes of FMS planes like the new Bf109F that were not molded, but carved. Gives a rougher finish, looks like they did it on this one and on the Zero, too.
Just check the panel lines for example... to irregular for a mold, not to talk about the rough foam finish.

And yes, the paintjob on both the Zero and this Hellcat are apparently hand painted.
Still, I believe we already see the final paintschemes, they would not research one for the prototype only... but well possible they'll release a second, green one for that Zero. Would be logical...

Cheers,
Bernhard
