Free flight to R/C conversion

I have seen a lot of examples of free flight models to fly under control. From single channel rudder only, to full house four channel, and beyond. I'd love to see one place where we can all discuss projects past, current, and future. The gear available today has opened up a whole new world for modernizing the classics. So let's see what you got!

It's a good way to go ! Servos, receivers, motors and battery packs all become lighter nowadays. One of my buddies has so made his Playboy since years ago.

I've been building free flight to rc conversions for a few years now. I started before brushless motors and the true micro gear came out. I love the stuff you guys are doing with the bbcc threads. As well as look forward to the results of your competition. I have a dumas super marine in the works. I'm too late to enter the competition. Everyone is welcome to post pics, ask questions, and share knowledge here. There is a lot of really great possibilities for some wonderful aircraft. Here's a little inspiration for those without projects.

A few more close ups. Includes radio setup, added control surfaces, wing attachment, battery hatch, mounting trays, and engine mount modifications. Not in that order.

Really enjoyed seeing your Mister Mulligan video, I've done a few ff models of this type some years ago, the rubber & co2 flew ok but the electric were not as good, this was before Bl motors and LiPo batterys . Some time ago I discovered Earl Stahl Plans on the Plan Page http://www.theplanpage.com/esp.htm and printed the Taylorcraft, Howard GH-1 that was developed from Ben Howard's famous racer "Mister Mulligan" and the Waco SRE, so far I've built the Taylorcraft and Waco SRE for ff and am now doing the SRE for the second time for RC, sadly I've been side tracked with other things but would like to finish it over our winter months.

ColinNZ, I look forward to seeing some more of your work. What you have there is great. I've been building and converting since the days of brushed motors and nimh myself. The new electric gear is perfect for these builds.

Kimber, That is a classic design. A gorgeous aircraft you've made as well.

Let's keep the thread alive and share those interesting projects we've built or are always tinkering with.
