Sounds like you have a clone hobbywing ESC. If it does not say "Hobbywing Flyfun" on the ESC and come with an anti-counterfeit code then it is a knockoff.

To me that's Not Cool! A Big Vendor advertising it on eBay as an HW and it has an HW label on the ESC. Guess that's faked.

Correct, label is faked, packaging duplicated etc, except the performance is not duplicated. Hobbywing has not made "Pentium" labeled ESC since May 2011. Any vendor selling a Hobbywing "Pentium" is selling a knockoff. That is why HW changed the name of their ESCs to FlyFun and well as include an anti counterfeit code with each ESC. I have and always will only sell genuine Hobbywing ESCs.

Maiden Flight on the new 6000Kv and Wemo Combo! No issues with swapping out the Genuine HW 40A for the fake one and this one worked instantly in all ways, programming and running.

Glacier 3S 1000 30C Lipo balanced out right on, perfect CG in flight.

36-39A @ 375 - 393 Watts!!! Just over 3 minute flight and the pack was spent.

Next test is try a CG check and mounting with the Zippy Compact 3S 1800 25C. Maybe I can buy another two minutes flight time...

I am wanting more low end gunt than top end speed for this crazy flying shark. This is my first EDF so I may have mis-matched my motor thinking that a KV4800 would be better for this 700G RC airframe than a KV4400 or lesser KV motor. Please forgive my noobness regarding KV to RPM to thrust ratio. Anyway...if you have a better suggestion for my set up to the Hobby King Flying Shark please make changes at will....I'll pay more as needed.

I am flying from a Fort Worth Texas area club grass runway strip...so this EDF shark will be hand launched...I wanted to make sure I have enough hand launch thrust to make take offs a little more easier....and provide this thing with enough power to scat back up verticle from a low slow glide path down the runway.

Your suggestions are most welcome..and if the KV4800 is a good match to the 64mm fan assembly then....good!

Actually I think that will be a good setup for the shark. It is more power than the stock setup yet not the excess power of the 4S systems. I think you will like the setup. Make sure you use a 40 amp ESC and I would suggest a 3S 2200 lipo 30C or higher.

Aye 10:4 Don...Will have a SkyPower 45amp BESC with 2250mah 65C 3S LiPo...should help keep the power valves open

Hi, Don - any ETA for restock on the 4400's?

Third flight on the Zippy Compact 3S 1800 25c's today. Not as powerful as the Glacier 3S 1000 30c's. Did gain about 45 sec with laying on full throttle most of the flights. So they did last longer, but the Glacier 30c's have more Punch.

Thinking about getting some 3S 1500-1600 30-35c's to try next. I think that is the happy medium for weight vs power.
