Paul Naton told us that there's no use in getting a better plane, until one is hindered by the quality of the plane they currently fly.

When Nick gets better than the Radian Pro, I'll try to get him a better plane.
We have 2 of them, so it'll probably be awhile before he wears them out, or gets enough experience before he needs a new plane.

For the first two years of ALEs I always said a little prayer before stepping on the field in the morning. I suspect many others have said something similar:
"Please Lord, don't let me be beaten by a Radian today".

Alas, the supplication was not granted in 2011. So now I have to change it:
"Please Lord, don't let me be beaten by a 13 year old with a Radian today".

Glad to see a young person coming in. There's a lot of wisdom on the field at Polecat. Let's make sure we share it with him.

When I was 25 or so it used to really hurt to have 12 year olds hurtling down the hill skiing circles around me.

Now, I love to see the young sailplane kids excel. I've gotten to the point where whether I beat a 13 year old or someone flying a Radian may still hurt a little, but not as much as it makes me happy to see other guys out having fun.

Happy Landings,

Don

+1 on that.

But I have some suspicions that Kenny might be keeping Nick in a Radian for fear that the son might kick the father's butt with a more upscale plane. I know this might sound like bit of smack talk, and it might be, but I really like Kenny. So come on Dad, don't be afraid of your son -- step him up. There's plenty of time before the Polecat.

Kenny,

Remind Nick to bring his Rubik's cube, so I can get spanked at that too.

Actually, I heard Kenny managed to squeeze a thousand watts or so into that Radian. The aeroelasticity must be pretty impressive at launch!

Please don't do that again this year. You did so well last year. No trek up that hill and through the woods. Remember those woods? There were no trails. A chase bike would be useless. It was all sticker bushes and nasty stuff. If you are going to do a repeat of the 2011 BOT incident, at lease bring a machete with you this time.

Flying with Fast Freddie (AKA KH)

We went flying on Saturday. Fred brought out his 2m R/E/F which looks like a compact Oracle. It looks great and flys even better . I especially liked the smaller size but performed extremely well. It was very manueverable and extremely light on it's feet. This plane for it's small size is an outstanding performer. He's got a winner here.
