The legs are 300mm from the underside of the boom.. I added small foam tire wheels to add another 15mm or so, plus add a little shock absorbsion , they work great at helping to straighten up sightly wonky landings..

And other question: is it necessary to flash the escs? haven't done that yet..

Man I like that idea with the landing skid, do you have brakes incase you have to land on road on a slope? Just kidding great idea I may incorporate that into my Hexacopter.

Luciole, because I plan to use the Octo (which I have named, "Egor!") for
aerial photography using a 3-axis gimbal, I am thinking about using the NAZA
with GPS or the Wookong-M.

With the ESC's for "Egor" I am using the Castle Creations ICE 50 which has
a special setting for multi-rotors, but I have learned from the MRC threads that
it seems most everyone has much better success when the ESC's are flashed.
Hopefully, some of the guys on this thread will confirm this.

Ive got a quick question, ive ordered a hexa with these HL W48-22 490KV engines and the carbon 15x55 props. will run it with 4s 5000 x2 paralel. weight is about 4 kilo. Ecalc tells me that i have an flighttime of 10 minutes. Can anyone tell me this is true? i expected more like 20 minutes of slow fly.

I use the 4822 570kv with 14x4.7 carbon slowfly on top and 14x5 xoar on bottom on a x8 and get 11 minutes flight time on 2x 5000mah 4s with 1.5kg payload. Total flying wheigt is 5kg.

I don't know, I tested the 4822 570kv with 14x5 and it produced 1800grams at just over 300w.

I haven't messures static thrust, but eight 490kv's (4S, 15x55 CF) did not even break a sweat lifting 10kg.
