This has already been done. The allowable flying sites are Basin 116 for fixed wing, and Basin 114 for helis. These basins are off Elliot between Ellsworth and Signal Butte. Basin 116 is run by the Arizona WingNutz, and Basin 114 is run by the Superstition Radio Control Helicopter Association (SRCHA).

You must have insurance to fly at these basins (AMA preferred), but you are not required to join either of the clubs.

This is a joke, right? Have you been there?
There are walking paths everywhere and nowhere suitable to fly any but the smallest micro's.

Yeah it does seem pretty funny! Why bother huh? I'm sure something will work out on it's own.

About as funny as leaving this thread open for people to post alternate locations.

It's dead let it die.

By Jim's post it just shows the GQF leaders have no interest in finding a new flying site. The club is dead, GQF forum is dead, this thread is dead. We are beating a dead horse. Long live GQF

azflyingguy is the only member that asked to be removed from the club roster. I don't know why you even bother to post here anymore... [shrugs]

I now live in Queen Creek, and that site is not too far away from me, but I would not fly there for the reasons given by Rick. Much to risky.

GQFers are as alive as ever in it's own way. Heck we just got together and supported the AMA's AZ Electric Festival. Weather sucked but we all had a great time. It's interesting how the community at large recognizes the GQFs and how well we play with and support other clubs.

Shoot, lots of us are joining the Flagstaff Flyer's as Associate members.

Cheers,

Jim

They already do allow electric flying in at least two parks, both in East Mesa. The Basin 116 site on Elliot east of Ellsworth is reserved for 'fixed wing' flying and controlled by the Wingnuts club, and the basin further east is for helis, and is controlled by a heli club. AMA is required at both fields.
The Arizona Electric Soaring Group holds its monthly contests at Basin 116. (usually the second Saturday of the month).

How about Higley and Brown? I believe it would have a 400 ft ceiling.
