Those are some heavy duty hinges! Never noticed how you were planning on doing hinges for the B-36, but I'm now assuming they were involving metal parts too

Here is the start of the aileron. The hinge pin will be a 4-40 bolt shaft with a little thread left for the bolt. The hinge will slide in and out of the wing while I build it. Once the wing and aileron is done I will add the bolt into the blind-nut which holds the hinge in through a small hatch in the bottom of the wing.

I just looked through all the pictures of this build and have to say it's one of the coolest things I've ever seen. Keep up the amazing work and good luck with the rest of the project. I'm tuned in ;-)

New to this forum, and I just spent the day reading through all 700 posts in this thread, and all I can say is - WOW! Really incredible attention to detail in the craftwork. I was sad to see that it didn't take off on the first build but very happy that you are persisting and carrying on with it.

I think it's very special when something of this detail and handiwork is strapped to a high-power motor and thrust directly into the sky. Airplanes may be aesthetically beautiful but they are meant to fly, not hang from the ceiling!

Looking forward to seeing this plane do exactly that.

Welcome to the forum, Tim! Dag is indeed a spectacular designer and builder. Search for his other builds and you will spend the next week glued to the screen,

Hey Tim,
Glad you like this stuff. If you have a few months to read, you will see I have a few other projects, one with over 14,000 post. Its not a life, but an obsession. Also, I have never built a plane that never flew. Some have taken 6 year to get in the air, and my B-36 might take 10 years, but they always end up getting home-sick for the air.

Rock ON!!!! DAG
