Question
UMX Radian Contest

We are thinking about putting together a UMX Radian Contest and am trying to figure out what tasks/events should there be. So if you have any ideas or suggestions please let me know! Thanks!

Longest glide time, do a 30 to 45 second motor climb out and after that no touching the motor, see who can glide the longest

I was thinking a 30 sec motor run and then stay up as long as you can but a fellow club member suggested doing a 30 sec motor run with set time task and spot landing....like they do in glider competitions.
We were also considering giving each pilot a fully charged battery and doing a all up/last down with no limits.

The only problem I see with this is not all batteries and motors are created equally. There can always be that unknown variable with those components.

It'd still be fun though!

Not to mention those that can turn off the AS3X have an advantage because they don't use as much battery.

Well we can have everyone run stock motors, give each pilot a battery (which is then theirs to keep) and have everyone fly with AS3X on. Make it a even as possible and let the pest thermal hunter win!

I'd do it for the free battery!

How about adding in some low level flying as well (say ~5 feet ribbons)? Under the ribbon and over the next--controlled porpoising for 50 yards or so...

Nothing to do with flying but how about nicest looking or best picture of your Radian?

I like the ribbon idea...as far as wives and girlfriends go...they must be present and must fly to win!

We are also considering doing a combined 2 day event with the larger Radians in one class and the UMX in the other. Kind of like the Radian and UMX Radian NATS.

2 posts 8 feet high and about 40 feet from each other. Maintain figure 8's around them without going above that height.

And now for my lame joke: Cut-Throat Radian Competition=Fly in 30 MPH wind. The last to lose his plane wins.
