Its 'cogging'.....

It's usually caused by a battery that can't supply the amp demand. It can be caused by the firmware the esc is running if its a Castle esc.

What batteries?

Its prob your batts - they can't supply the amps the setup is calling for, its pretty classic. You can try cycling the packs and see if they improve - NiMh doesn't like not being used and they may take a few cycles before they wake back up.

I have some 4000mah and 4400mah packs that don't cause cogging in my Slash, so its not that the packs are too small.

Sorry, I already belong to more forums than I can keep up with. Just pick the important stuff you wanted OP to see and cut and paste it here....

Cycling is something done on a charger - once its set up, the charger discharges the battery at a selected discharge rate, waits for it to cool, then charges it at a selected rate. When its finished, charger waits a while for it to cool then discharges the battery again.

If you tell it 3 cycles, charger does it 3 times. Charger will typically keep track of the mah discharged each time and the mah input to the battery each time. You typically see these numbers increase for a few cycles and then they don't change - the battery is as good as its going to get at this point. Time to use it and see how it runs.
