--APstick-- multipurpose cargo bird--AP+FPV--
I design this plane to do all my AP task : (UAV and FPV enthousiast will
find room for all kind of electronic in the lower part fuselage )

--If you use the smaller TURNIGY 3530+25amp ESC+1000mA 3S lipo,
you should be able to comply with AMA parkflyer rules with your camera
onboard (less than 900g or 2 pounds) and have a 7.5oz/sqf wing loading
--The APstick with TURNIGY3536 motor+57"wingspan+3s1550lipo
is 870g AUW and reach 1030g with panasonic FX37 camera onboard.
8.25oz/sqf wing loading with camera in i dont
count tail surface up here...
--new custom aluminium design motor mount...
,add 10g but dissipate lots of heat ! (650W burst). Little
aluminium material is the key for strengh and heat sink.
--The lower pod is made with 6mm depron and EPP,elevator+rudder=6mm depron,wings=
Mike Evans way's custom white bead foam home made wire cut
--the front "bumper" is made with EPP and can be customize to
fit your camera and to hold the battery when you put your camera
in side mode at the CG.
--3" epp wheels with 4mm 0r 5mm hollow carbon rod
--almost no component blocking propeller airflow thus better
efficiency+more battery runtime and more avalaible BURST... .
Will have 1:1 or more power ratio Watch aiflow result here
--Run time with camera inboard is 15 min. worst case (3s2200mA), and can reach 25 min. with calm flight with 35-30 motor.

At 10oz/sq loading+4deg wing attack angle, landing is not a problem !

It looks like a promising AP plateform. I can't wait for the first pictures.
Where did you get the EPP ? I know EPP is not the easiest material to find. I still have a few EPE Noodle Boards to build my next fuse but another source of foam wouldn't be a luxury. Noodle Boards are now replaced by hockey equipement on the shelves.

that EPP is from a big AC drive packaging box we received at my job

You can get ready made tubes at the local Club Piscine if they keep them on the shelves for winter. It's about 8 dollars for a pack of 3.

1000g bird with 1500+g thrust, if not overkill, lets say
lots confortable . EDITED: the 3536 was almost overkill= yes,
unlimited vertical without camera... the 3530 will be more than needed
for any AP jobs...The airflow performance do make a big difference !

the new bird is maiden, and yet i'm 100% satisfy ! the extra work payoff.
Best CG yet is 28%.Battery had to be just in front of propeller to achieve
this . Note: i can fly without the camera with no extra ballast weight,
so camera will be able to get any desired CG with the battery in middle
of bottom fuse...
Beautiful day,only 3deg C, 5-10mph gusting wind, but heavier bird are supposed to handle little wind ?
No ground takeoff,field was bad...will have no problem anyway when
appropriate runway avalaible...
I have to admit that my goal was to achieve Mike Power solution handling (stand still flight,
verticals...slow pass, heli landing, flying backward )
The airplane match (i think ) but the pilot (me) just cant
i made about 8 short flight with the same battery (total 10 min ? forgot to program timer fonction on my TX) require 1600mAh ,50% time at max. power
,so i expect 10 to 15 min fly time ? UPDATE: second test with more gliding
get me easy 15min, so i could get 20...
40 to 50% throttle is OK for slow level flight... next test : with camera

yes, sold i am...but yet thanks to CFL that introduced me to
this part of building (he cut my actual wing). i plan
to built a cutting tool one day...
What i like is the gliding that i'm getting compare to my
high cambered airfoil (FROG )...

Congrats for your design prize ggtronic.
I think you will appreciate to fly without worrying too much about your camera that's inside the foam tube. If you can avoid water everything should be OK.

The foam mount give trust for shure !
1700mAh for 13min of flight with camera onboard...
This my first inboard video. The plane is doing a nice job,
but the pilot (me) have to learn to do more stable flight
(had to remove lots of unstable flight due to turns...full up...)
Regular level flight just get me boaring some time, so i like to
get lots of takeoff and landing (cut...edit)... let me know
what you like , or dont ?

troynh : watch the dead leaf flight for looping...
In fact, i failed most of my takeoff video because i liked the aerobatic
feeling of going vertical, but camera see only blue sky .
those TURNIGY motor turn for ever... just little level flight with
no power, and propeller spin like crazy ! that's why i seem to
never stop the motor...free spinning (all my landing where motor OFF)
