Super Tigre .61 ringed engine NEW

I got a super tigre .61 ring engine in a deal i made about a month ago. The engine is brand new. I have tried to sell it here on RCGroups as well as Ebay with no success. Is this engine not good or what? Why is none interested in the engine. I feel like having it priced around 70 dollars for a brand new engine was a pretty good deal.

Thoughts?

Is it an S series or a G series engine? If a G series engine, they're a dime a dozen. The S series is more desirable IMO, makes a little more power than the G series.

Aside from the technical differences, visually, one has a big letter S on the side while the other has a big letter G on the side.

I'd say, the G and the S would be the biggest giveaways.... The one piece crankcase or not, seems less relevant....

Problem is no parts support anymore, so even though it's a very good engine, if you bend the crank, etc, it goes in the trash.

If it were ABC, I'd buy it. Already got a .29, .51, and .90 all ringed.

Just to clear things up, the S series was a completely different animal having a round cylinder with the head having most of the cooling fins. The S61 had a removeable front end while my S45 has a one piece crankcase. The only marking is a large S on the transfer. Then there's the GS series which looks much like the later G series (square cylinder) other than the strengthening ribs at the front end. These had a large G with an S inside it, Last was the G series which had the engine size inside the G.

Like many threads I have seen here lately (and even participated in some), the OP just began the discussion, but then never bothered to chime-in and add info asked about by those who replied...

...And it is us; others; that just discuss the options with one another...

I hope Rover got the info he was seeking.

Don't get excited, I was just basically joking....

Because tacx (who was not even the OP....) did not ask what the differences are, but how to tell the difference, and I figured that if anything, those big letters on the side would be sufficient to tell the difference

That's all there was to it....

You don't think what's highlighted in red is really the same thing for the sake of argument? I would think most folks would interpret "what the differences are" and "how to tell the difference" as being a similar statement. But it doesn't really matter because Downunder laid it out for us better than I did. Thank you for clarifying for us, Downunder.

Well... if you are getting all humourless and sour about it...

NO, THEY ARE NOT THE SAME!

One is about internal specs (port timing, ringed vs ABC or whatever possible differences, the other is about how to tell the two apart by appearance (if at all possible)....

Put two hamburgers next to each other and you can't tell which one is from MacDonalds, and which one from Burger King....

But when they are still in their respective packagings, and you can....

Same with the big G and the big S cast in the transferside of those two engines....

So yes, it's at least a bit funny if somebody asks how to tell the two apart if there is this fairly big G or S cast in, but somebody seriously starts answering that one has a removeable front housing...

Brgds, Bert
