Riptide from the TV series of the same name
Hi All
Does anyone know whether plans exist of the cruiser Riptide used in the 80s TV series called Riptide? I see the boat still exists - see http://classicyacht.org/boats/riptide was this a one off or were many of this type built? Regards & Thanks Wayne |

Hi Wayne,
There were a of few of them built. This yacht was an old Commuter design by Elco. I am including a link to a full sized one that is for sale. The one for sale is an original open bridge design whereas on Riptide the bridge was closed. The rest of it looks the same. It is more than likely that Riptide started life as an open bridge and at some point an owner closed it off to make it more all-weather friendly. I saw a couple of others in the past and they were also open bridge yachts. Currently there are no plans available on the market for that Elco but I do know someone with drafting abilities that is currently making up actual plans for her sister listed below. He plans on building a detailed model of it. I don't know if he plans on selling plans later on. http://www.yachtworld.com/core/listi...&access=Public -Rich. |
