high performance - 369km/h - 230mph with LiPos

done with LiPo-Batts..

the former record was 295km/h now: with Lipos, 369km/h !!

here pic of the model:

its a Vector2:

Hacker B 50 XL 12 and 64(!) LiPoly-Zellen á 340mAh

weight of the whole plane with LiPo: 2,4kg

before, with NC-batts the weight was around 3,5kg

the big concurrent for the plane, not as fast as the vector but nevertheless.. its fast enough:

Blade

here a video of the blade:
hier das "Blade-Video":

Kräuterbutter, how did you measure the speed? And where and when was this?

I'm asking, because this Vector-II and 64-cell pack are currently in storage with us; unless there are two of these. Daniel flew the plane here near Portland Oregon 3 weeks ago (see http://shredair.com/album/equinox03c.html), and he will fly it next in San Diego at the Mid-Winter Electrics in mid-February 2004.

Don't worry, Dieter . . . you'll have your new toy soon and will be going WAY faster than that . . .

the measurance was done on a meating..
not by me..

@JDubman: ???? (English´s not my motherlanguage.. what do you mean ??)

@MarcusT: which plane is even faster than that ???

i thought good pylons get up to 330km/h (F3D as well like F5D)

oh: the thrust on the vector is greater than the weight of it !!!
thats - wow - for a EDF !

Now thats fast but how much did lipos cost
Is that 8s8p or 32s2P

What chager for recharging and how long one hour???

I thought the nicad or nimh version got 205MPH

My credit card probably couldnt reach the cost of the Lipo

With this thrust ratio is near vertical takeoff possible

Wow, I'm impressed. That's an expensive lipo-pack

I'm really interested in the measuring method because I'm always a little skeptic about speed claims.

F3D goed about 330 Km/h.

... but of course they aren't designed or set up simply for straight-line speed (they have to go round corners )!

I'm wondering if Kraeuterbutter is referring to the flight discussed here: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...hreadid=140145
In this case, Daniel Schübeler was flying an old 20-cell Vector Pro. After a power-on dive, the plane was traveling at over 220mph as measured by a small, on-board, experimental GPS.
The yellow LiPo-powered Vector-II shown above is theoretically capable of reaching about 150 mph, flying just straight and level. Schübeler has calculated that it would take about 20 seconds for the plane to reach that speed.
Kraeuterbutter: Mark Triebes is talking about a 3.25-meter glider built for dynamic soaring. In the right hands and conditions, this plane may indeed be able to exceed the current measured DS speed record of 229 mph. How about 250 mph (= 400 km/h)?

I'm not sure what you mean by this... but Daniel Schübeler builds those Vectors by hand... he's basically a one-man-show. He does this because he wants to maintain his extremely high level of quality. He is German, after all. It's easier for him to have one distributor... it's not a "monopoly." There's a waiting list for Schübeler fans and Vectors because he does not have the production capacity to keep up with the demand. If he has trouble supplying one distributor, how do you expect him to supply several distributors?

At these high speeds it a good idea that the Quality from
Daniel Schübeler is high
