Build Log
Depron Gee bee R3

Here is my scratch build of a Gee Bee R3.
I was just surfing the net, when i found a top and side view of the Gee bee R3.
I started drawing a bit in Rhino and made my plans as i go.
Version1 was wrecked in a crash by a radio signal dropout.
Version2 plans are up for grabs. Mine is upside down in the spray booth.
New plans involve 2 Deg. of main wing incedence and some touch-up on 3 parts.

Wing span will be 130cm (~51inch), lenght 100cm (~49inch)
I try to build as light as possible.
Used foil: sipkill.
650Watt on 4S motor.

Thanks for any help or suggestions in advance.
Greeting from holland.
Rem.

This is looking quite beauiful. I love this plane. Sexy curves every where. I'll be reading this thread.

I'm not sure yet about the painting scheme.
The TEXACO scheme is widely used, but attractive for me.
Also the gilmore is one of my favorites.
Any suggestions?

I have been abroad for a week working.
So no big progress.
Here it is so far.

Servo's mounted and pushrods installed,
Wings joined,
Wheelpants put together and shaped. Including strengthning cables.
mounted 1 wheel.

Greetings,
Remco.

Also made a start on the internaly hinged ailerons.

Question:
Is it possible to use these ailerons also as flaps, each side powered by a seperate servo?
maybe some mixing on 2 channels?

Greetings,
Rem.

On my Spektrum DX7 I can use "Flaperon's" which let's you mix flaps with ailerons.

Thank you, DaDesign..
Found the same type of mix here on my JR DSX9.

Sorry guillaumeux..
At first i will try to see this plane in the air.
After that we will see...

Both internal hinges made, and figuring out a way to move the surfaces invisible. And yet still accessible when i take off the wing.

Greets,
Rem.

Well done so far. How did you cut the foam so nicely?

I would love to see that put into plans. Although it is a might on the intense side of building for me. A beautiful plane none the less

Barzaun..
I guess you know you have to use sharp blades to cut foam.
So far i used 3 chirurgical blades on cutting the foam. (nice to have a nurse in the family)
For cutting straight, use a ruller, or something straight.
For cutting nice holes i use a "holpijp" and a circle cutter, dont know the translation, but you can see in the pickture.

Plans wil be worked on some later.
Here is what i have sofar.. but there is no former count or numbering yet.
Problem is that i have the abillity to print on a A0 size plotter.
So i don't need to tile my plans.

Greetings,
Rem.
