My "It's not a Mig 1.44", Latest video and a ......launch.
I started a thread on this model originally in the Scratchbuilt (Foamies) forum, - My Winter Project, Update #3. She's getting bigger. , but decided to finish it here as it seems more relevant, (or even 'more elephant', going by the size).
So for a starter - There are no plans. It hasn't flown yet, (but will).
It's based on a 3-view Mig 1.44. It's not a scale model. I like to build what I like and how I want to, and power them how I want to, and paint them how I want to.
Now the model, (see the link above for the initial build), she's 64" span, 74" long, (plus the bit I forgot that sticks out past the tailpipes).
She weighs 4lb 10oz, (but needs a bit of 'church roof' up front to keep the CG happy, but still under 5lbs).
Power is two SP 2212-06 motors, two cut down 6" x 4" props, (nearer 5.7" diameter), 'fuel' is a 3s 4500mAh.
Test runs show 44Amps total (22A per motor) and quite a respectable, errr! is it 'suck' or is it 'blow' ?
Anyway, enough I am sure to make it fly how I want it to, I'm not a, "It must fly like a colored streak across the sky..", EDF flier. I like to see my models.
She's nearly all in Depron. No U/C, (why add useless weight). And will fly, one day soon, (if ever it stops raining, blowing a gale, freezing my tailpipe off......etc etc).

You may find some smaller versions of the Mig in the forums. A search in the thread titles should find any.

what a beast. what size props did you use? are they same diameter as standard, or do you get larger and cut down to a certain size? maybe I should read the link, just in case you mention that. LOL.
edit: or perhaps just read the first post a bit better and get my answer. LMAO.

Looking at the UK's predicted wind strength and directions for this week, XCWeather , it may not be for a few days.
I hope to use my 'keychain' camera mounted on my the side of my glasses again, so you should almost see what I see.
I don't think the weather gods like the idea of being sucked into such a void and spit out the other end

Not ideal for a maiden I have to agree. Looks like you'll just have to sweat it out in front of the fire with hot buttered toast until the wind quiets down to around 5 mph.

And the answer is........yes, and there's a video the prove it
So here's what happened. It was a last minute decision as the weather 'guessers' said it would blow in the wrong direction for my site It didn't, but I didn't notice till the afternoon.
I decided to use a bungee as I didn't fancy trying to hand launch on the first flight, (or probably any other, it's like standing under a big fishing umbrella).
First try on a little pull, (forgot the bungee retainer and release), so had to hold on to the tailpipes. Not enough pull.
So a longer pull, and..........she was flying. Quite nicely considering a first attempt with an unknown model.
She handled quite well, but a little slow on right aileron, need to check everything again.
Shortly into the flight I heard the motors change note for a second, so to play safe I throttled back a bit and did a circuit to come back, (across wind, prat). A burst of power to get her round the tree and building, (), and back into wind, cut the throttle and..............Oh! my G.., she's just floating in.
So now it's time. All this and on just a bit under 500 watts, yep, 22 amps per motor.
Keychain camera mounted on my glasses, (the puffing and panting you hear is an oldie struggling in winter clothing, honest).
The noise ?, yes it's VERY VERY LOUD.
