I'm waiting for hobbyking china warehouse to restock this A-10 warthog, comes with 55mm fans. If I can get one, would most likely replace entire propulsion system with 50mm units. Can't find many other vendors selling this Guanli model. If you see these......china or anywhere, please leave a link if possible....tia.

It might be possible to use my better motors with the stock 55mm fans. Reports are the stock motors and speed controls have barely adequate power. Was just thinking I already have several 50mm units.......but yes could maybe get some cheap 55mm fans and shrouds. Thanks for the link......hope they get more soon.

55mm - why not 8-bladers

HK sells the AEO rotors
http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...de_system.html

and you can get adapters, e.g., 3mm but also other sizes (it's the GWS type)
http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...3mm_Shaft.html

load is similar to 5- or 6-bladers, so you can use the same motors.
sound might be better (at least the 64mm variant is a real improvement over the 5- or 6-bladers)

a perfectly balanced 5-6 blade will never compare to a high blade count fan, sound wise. some noise doubled is a lot more than almost none.

this could work as long as the weight of the entire fan assy is as light as a light 50mm . trust me , on this a10 light weight is a must for good behavier ( and achieving balance)

I know but too many blade make the fan heavy and less responsive to throttle
and less effective, even if it's balanced. Remember there no such thing as a
perfect balanced fan, it's just better or worse.

The worst fan / noisy fan I've ever flown with was a Kyosho 5 blade.
When I fired it up it was echo from mountains several km away ... and
catle and sheeps rised their head and stared ... embarassing ...

Oh cool! Great to hear this Chuck. Will remember the wing spars. One thing I'm wondering about though: I heard the foam might not be EPO.....but some cheaper type styrofoam.....???

Successful maiden and 6 additional flights on my AMX "6-bladed fan" set up. Sorry I had to throw that in there
She LEPT out of my hand and roared into the skies. Running the CS 4900KV motor with a 30A Plush and a 6B fan (well balanced)...of course after launch I immediately noticed that I had gotten sidetracked and not dialed in any D/R or expo on any of my flight modes So it was a hot 2:30 minutes of running around at 100% D/R and 0 expo (luckily only a click of right AIL trim needed) looking not so graceful, but going exactly where I pointed her. Got her on the ground and dialed in my f-Modes...awesome! She flew like she wanted to be there. I think I might have a 1.5mm throw on AIL and maybe 6mm throw on the ELE. CG @ 40mm.
Very snappy, very fast, seemed like she would be unlimited vert., but we had a solid layer of low clouds... well behaved in a straight forward stall test and ROCKED the 15Kt gusty winds. Fun bird! Hopefully some video on my next outing. Thanks for the tips guys!

Maidened my XRP EDF equipped AMX this afternoon. Used a 4S 1600mAH China Hobby Line pack. Man she goes like STINK! I launched at half throttle per Rays suggestion and even at 50% throttle, she really scoots. A vast improvement over the stock fan for sure. Way more watts!
