Fly fast dont try to float it and its good slow it down to much and its a tip stalling fool

the secret..

Hi

Steve, how are you. sorry for the crash of your salto.. The secret of the flyfly salto, is more weight in the nose, The cg is wrong, are not in 6.1, it´s in the 4.5 cms of the leading edge when you fly with more weight in the nose, the stall of the tips, aren´t present in any circunstances.

Acabo de enterarme que hay una pagina de Venezuela aqui.. y lamento lo de tu planeador.. añoro los fines de semana volando en las Aguilas, definitivamente el mejor lugar en el mundo y con los mejores compañeros... ahora vuelo termico aqui en Texas,

Hello.
I also have a flyfly Salto which I shall soon get into the air.
Have tried a couple of times before without much success.
I have mounted a towing hook on it and will use it for towing.
Was unfortunately no manual to my and therefore I know nothing about CG or recommending rudder.

Hi Lasse

If you see the C.G. of the salto in the plans, it are WRONG, the correct C.G. of the flyfly salto is on 4,5 cms. from the L.Edge.

I recomend the use of two servos ( i use two futaba 3003 ) for the use of the elevator and ruder. If you aren´t shure about the movement of the elevator and/or ruder, use the switch of your radio ( D/R at 60 percent.)

Unfortunaley I the CG has very little to do with the tip stall nature of this Model moving the CG forward will reduce the effect of elevator response Have you tried the dive test Gonzalo? also nose heavy in this model will cause it to flick rather badly at the top of the loop this is cause by the increased amount of elevator throw required to over come the weightand stalls out the tail very quickly , from memory my CG was set around 59 /60 mm mark Elevator response was excellent and it didnt have to move 25mm in each direction to achieve control . the throw where set at 15 mm in each direction and the rudder was as much as I could get I also had rudder mixewd at 60% to aileron with a trailing edge thickness of reflex set on the ailerons ,this helped to off set the tip stall on this model. Mine flew in this setup for 3 years before January of this year loosing an aileron servo on base turn put it sideways knife edge into a 5 strand barbed wire fence .

I se that you have different opinions about the CG.
My first and second try i had the cg set ~6cm so il think i go for 4.5 this time.
I recorded the first towing atempt, if you would like to se it.

My salto set at 5.7cm later changed to 6.0cm cause it felt nose heavy

Hi my friend. sorry for the delayed response

( in spanish ). El motivo por el cual yo adelanté el C.G. es para obligar a la punta del avión a que se mantenga baja en relación a la cola, al hacer esto, evito que el avión al girar haga el stall de punta de ala.

En lo personal, esta solución me ha servido y se puede apreciar incluso en algunas maniobras que el avión hace donde hubiese en condiciones de C.G. según los planos hacer el stall de punta de ala.

Salto strengthening

gonzalo - Nice work in the strengthening.
I am about to do the same to my salto- using carbon fibre 200gm matt.

How much did your plane end up weighing once finished?
I want to know, so i can judge how much strengthening I should do to mine.

Hi

You can rebuild the hardware and use the carbon fiber to reinforce the structure... i use a light isocianate to mantain the tail structure and keep the wires of elev-rudder in ¨no movement¨.

Shure, you can send to me question about the bird, i can help to you. Is important the move of the CG to 4,5 cms. ( the plans have a mistake, is not 6 cms. )
