43' Delta Marine Charter fishing boat

First a quick introduction since I am new to this forum. My name is Bob and my family and I live in Newberg, Oregon. This forum is a great wealth of information and I have enjoyed reading everyone's stories of struggles and success. Enough about me. About 20 years ago I decided to build an R/C model of my brother-in-laws charter fishing boat that I spent many summers deck handing on out of Ilwaco, Wa.

The model is of a Delta Marine 43' Charter boat. Delta Marine, based in Seattle, was real big in the '70's and 80's for charter fishing and Alaskan Seiner vessels. Nowdays they build exotic yachts for the uber wealthy. The model is 1/12 scale, 43" x 14" wide, about 26 pounds. I started out with twin Dumas 6v motors and 2:1 reduction. That was too slow so then went direct drive and that was still too slow. Found some cheap no name motors that are good for about 10k RPM and they work great. Upgraded to a Novak heavy duty ESC and all was good. Boat has lots of details I built, basically if it was on the real boat, it's on the model, inlcuding shrunken down postcards of the real thing in the magazine rack above the sink. The pilot house has all radio's and electronics light up, cabin lights, navigation light, radar all work. I only have one picture for now that I will post when I figure out how...more pics to follow.
I'm feeling the bug to do some upgrading. I want to go with 2 ESC's and I'm thinking of modding a 2.4Ghz Futaba radio for twin stick throttles. I might even mod the rudder channel for a ships wheel for fun. Plus use the other channels for turning on the different lights as of right now they are mechanical switches hidden behind a cabinet drawer in the Pilot house. Let me know what you think.

Great looking Charter boat, Bob! Just needs a few tired looking sport fishermen hanging out by the rails...

You mean hanging over the rails...

Great job on the boat. It looks shockingly realistic!

Thanks for the comments! Detail pictures will be coming, but first I need to clean her up and fix some damage done by cats passing by too close. My fault. No wonder I like dogs better

Look who showed up-

Whoa!!!! Go fishing on this boat and you might want to ask who else will be joining. Looks like Clay Morrow from Sons of Anarchy is going fishing. If you aren't familiar with SOA tv show, Clay is not a very nice person. I know they also make the Jax figure which I'll buy when I find it. I hope they make all the characters from the show as I think that would be a really cool look to have a charter boat full of the people from one of my favorite shows. We'll see. Ignore the broken handrails....boat will be going into drydock for a major refitting.

Clay probably broke the handrails.

True, Clay was never a happy person. Maybe fishing is his down time?
