I just picked up this 30% Carden Extra 300S. It has a 3W60K engine , Menz 24X8 prop , TME smoke , and Futaba Coreless S9202's throughout it. I'm curious of how good this plane will be at 3d manuvers. I myself believe for a older Airframe this is a beautiful plane. This plane is Flawless in its build. I'm also curious as to what the Value of this would be ?

Value? I would say airframe and engine around 900-1,000. With quality servos and electronics RTF about 1,200 - 1,500.

As for flight and 3D? You are holding the best in the RC Hobby!

I go it in with a package trade deal locally. I traded 5 nitro Helicopters from 50's to a 90 . I got this Carden with a Carl Goldburg Sukoi 72" wing span G23 installed , B&B smoke , A Carl Goldburg 70" Extra 300 RCS 1.4 installed , and a Carl Goldburg Ultimate Bipe with a RCS 1.4 installed. All these planes are absolutely Flawless in their build with some CF stuff added to them and alot of nice extra upgrades on them.

The going rate for a 30%er with everything except the RX and TX is $900.00. and thats for a fairly new model in excellent cond. older models $600.00. I have seen people that have em for sale for like $1400-1600. Ain't happning.

Ya gotta think. A brand new plane & motor is about $1000. Then add 600 for servos and batt. Ya gotta new plane for $1600. Once used. It worth half.

For an ARF you are probably right. For a stick built Carden NOT. Carden is not an ARF and just the airframe when finished is every bit of 1,000 by itself. I am currently building a 30% and with hardware covering and all the little stuff you need to build, is around 700 and it is not a carden where the box of sticks cost 550. The DA100 and all the electronics is another 1,200 easy. When RTF I will have alot of time and around 1700 in it. A Carden you will have around 2,000

If I run my AR7000 rx and my dx6i tx will I need to also use a satalite ?

I've seen people power down their planes and all the ailerons and elevator surfaces drop down . How would I program mine to also do the same action on powering off my planes ?

I would not use the AR7000 with out a satlelite. In fact I am not sure if it will even bind with out a sat.

As for the surfaces droping when you power off, is not a program. That's digital servos and heavier control surfaces. The digital servos hold center by the voltage that is supplied through the reciever. When that voltage has been turned off the servo will automaticly leave the center point of the pot if the sruface is heavy enough to make it drop. You normaly see this on the high end servos and 30% or bigger planes.

Thank you. I'm fairly new the the large scale airplanes and any hints a tips are appreciated. I been flying for going on 12 years now and finally taking the step to gasoline powered planes.This Carden I have gotten has all Futaba S9202 Coreless servos already installed.

You should be ok with those. Futaba makes a product. You should also see the effect that your looing for with the surfaces dropping down.

When your flying it you notice a huge diffrence from a smaller plane. Larger scale flys more like a real plane with weather vainning and wind and ground effects.

If that RX has two spots for Sat's, I would buy the extra Sat. That way there's two. Don't overlook your battery selection. I would use a LIFE battery with a IBEC. 2300 mah

Looking at my Carden the control surfaces have been hinged super close and will not allow the proper movement for 3d flight. What would be the best way to seperate to be able to regap the control surfaces to be able to exspand the movement range without damaging the monocote or balsa? Picture attached of how tight it is.

I'm holding it fully down, lol its a little tricky to get the photos I'm standing on a table because its hanging from I beam in my living room.

This may sound like a goofy question but is all that white stuff I see dust or residue from the glue that was used to put the elevator on the stab ?
