Description:

With all the fly off’s, flips, drifts, engine outs and just unexplainable crashes in multi’s I felt it was time to look at a machine with redundancy and safety built in the core design.
The goal of this design was to keep the abilities of the R/C helicopter without requiring the massive head speed or torque created by a standard drive train. I wanted the ease of flight with a multi rotor with safety features not seen in designs on the market today using a single engines.
Meet the Free-Rotor USA (Pro 700) Nov. release, AP800 and Pro 600 Dec. release.

Safety features built in.
Ability to auto rotate, Uses a single prop and motor center mounted, rotor blades are not driven but free wheel to work as a prop guard eliminating prop strike injury’s, Main blades free wheel eliminating blade strike injury’s, extremely low head speed. Full control with or without engine power. Control without functioning tail rotor (used for steering main frame only).

Advantages.
Fly’s with or without auto pilots. Flybarless rotor head design. Flight time is increased over multi’s or basic R/C helicopters. The main frame remains level Hovering and lifting off compared to normal helicopters. Tail twitches along with massive blade speed were eliminated by harnessing the engines torque as additional power. Rotating the motors mass lets the rotor head work as a mass stabilizing gyro. Not feeding power to the main shaft eliminates all the typical vibration found in R/C helicopters, eliminates the elaborate drive trains used in most helicopter designs. Power to weight ratio gives the pilot the ability to carry most cameras and brushless camera mounts on the market today.

Maintenance has been reduced to checking few basic ball links after every 100 flights.

Check back as I'll be uploading video's and pics in the next few weeks of the products official release.

Looks like you redesigned a multi copter, it's hard to build a better mouse trap. Nice work!

Kinda looks like the old school free flight helicopter, like Cox's. Very interesting update! I like to look at old designs (oldtimer freefights) and wonder what would happen if someone was to update it with our current technology (lighter batteries, stronger motor, stronger material, higher reliability electronics, autopilots, etc).

Is the main shaft hollow and then you have the motor wires fed down through it ? It looks really interesting. Im excited to see it go.

If you replaced the single prop with a coaxial one you could steer by changing the RPM of the two props and get rid of the tail rotor.

EDIT: No wait that wouldn't work.
