Aggressor Viper

Some pix of my Aggressor. Scanned and printed decals from a set of 1/48 scale decals. She is powered by a Don's Wicked motor and 4s system. Fiberglassed as well.

That's BEAUTIFUL!! I flew block 50's from 2008-2011 at Misawa. I have "W W" decals ready to go, just need to get motivated to build another one. That aggressor scheme looks killer, no pun intended!

What paint method/type did you use?

Thanks! Retired back in '12 as a Crew Dawg. I work for Lockheed on the F-22 now but the Viper is my first love!

After glassing, I used high-fill automotive primer to fill the weave - that is the grey color. I then airbrushed the blue colors using Model Master paints. Finally, I brushed on some Future floor finish before applying decals and sealed with flat clear. Damn thing is a rocket!

Hey Vipercheif, that last pic (before paint) appears to show that your tailerons are not statically balanced. Perhaps you've done this since that pic was taken, but if not I would recommend it. Especially if you're bird is fast. Takes a lot of stress off the servo.

Just my $0.02

Looks great though !

The proper CG is right at the front of the cheater hole opening. Even on my hopped up version, that is the CG location I used and it worked out fine.

How much did it cost to ship to the UK from Hobby People?
I'm sure I contacted them before and they told me they don't ship to the UK.

I have been trying to find another one for ages after mine went in following a siezed servo

I didn't mind too much as it had done 100s of flights on the original stock setup. Was my favourite model for years even when it started to look scruffy

If I getanother one I'll be upgrading the fan etc and fibre glassing her as has been done before in this thread

I've had three Phase 3 F-16's. I crashed two of them by my own mistakes, not from structural failure. The supplemental instructions show you how to reinforce the taileron area. The only reinforcing I did was to glass the area top and bottom that holds the "elevators " in place.
I was using 70mm ducted fans with a 2200 mah 4 cell battery packs. Never had a structure failure. Just make sure to reinforce that tail area. I also ground a small "flat spot " on the shafts that go through the elevator area into the fuselage to make sure the set screw didn't slip on the shaft.
Fiber glassing the whole plane would look great but I think it would add too much weight.
Also, if you go with a 70mm ducted fan you'll need to dremel out the fuselage to get it to fit.
Another tip that adds more work but very convenient later. I DIDN'T glue the bottom fuselage half to the main structure. I used 8 magnets on each half (small magnets) to attach the bottom. Makes it easy to remove the fuselage bottom cover to work on the plane.
I have posted photos of my "works of art" somewhere in this thread.
