Gene-there are lots of stories-they just aren't being told...Times we did Giant scale fly-ins to raise money for the "Sunshine Kids'"-last wishes, in New Jersey...

Taking a ten year old girl on her first ride, ever in a Decathlon, doing the "stunts" she asked for- " straight up"-"upside down" "round 'n round" (spin)....then "I'm gonna throw up !!!!!"

Bless her-she fought it till she exited the Aircraft, laughing and vomiting -HAPPY !

Ginger. love you wherever you are in Socal. Those memories come flooding back, each time she comes to Maryland, and that's 30 years ago.

There's a rash of those type of events going on, currently....most of us do them and quietly move away.....We need to talk more.

The EAA's Sport Aviation magazine features the new Young Eagles in each issue. This feature hasn't missed an issue yet. I don't think it's a lack of interest more than a lack of intelligence and opportunity.

Intelligence: Are there programs to expose youth to aviation? How do you get the word out?

Opportunity: Is there an up-coming youth in aviation (air show with youth activities such as Young Eagle, etc.) coming-up? Where and when? Again, how do you get the word out?

We used to have a PBS program about general aviation in Arizona. It was really nice. Day trips to cool places, fly-ins. When I started watching it, it was about the Average Joe being involved in aviation. Then it started getting into the higher-end of "playing" with airplanes. Not so much Average Joe stuff. I lost interest pretty quickly.

It really is down to what Ken is sharing with us here. Make a difference no matter the size of the crowd. Think about it. Several small events around the country can easily yield more attendance than a few large events.
