Yeah, and don't hesitate to (re)create some parts as test beds for your painting - your model is absolutely worth a good paint job!

Hello,

I made the profile SU37 last year, and still flying. Very pleased to get this model. I crashed it 2 times at first and i wasn't sure to repair it with the last one but one day, i took the hot glue and still enjoying (foto before crash and not finished. Just got this one right now).

I'm thinking in making this version, but in 120% because i want something bigger than the standart one, but i don't want to get something too big (too expensive).

I would like to install the TV system, and a little landing gear retractable. I don't want to make a scale one, just something nice to see and fly with some nice details
Probably 2x2826-2200kv (same motor as my actual version) with 40A. I didn't thought about the lipo right now.

I read before that the weight could be a problem with the 120% version, and with all i want, maybe i'm on a hard way...
So, what do u think about this project ?
PS : sorry about my english !
Thanks 4 reading

Hi Ratita77,

if you have a look at #1984 you will see my 120% SU-37.
With 3S2200mAh accu she needs additional weight of 90g in the nose cone to get the CG right.
This SU-37 made over 100 flights and is still in very good shape.
At the moment a second 120% SU-30 MK is waiting for maiden flight. This model was modified to carry 3S3200mAh accu. To place such an accu into the SU-37 I had to cut a gap to the frontmost bulkhead. Some additional weight of 30g was still necessary.
This model at 120% is no problem, but you have to consider to place as much weight as possible in front of the CG. A landing gear would be awkward to balance the model.

Good luck!
Torsten

Ron, that is a super job. Can you share some info about the type of retracts and the canards (fixed ?)
Thanks!

Hi Atindra,

The retracts I used are from hobbyking, digital servoless retract system 54 gram. Approximately $9,- a pice. (The total setup is from hobbyking)
The canards are working on a 9 gram metal gear servo. I programmed the canards on a separate channel so I can switch them on and off. They are working as an elevator, not as tailerons. (Both canards are linked by a carbon spar 4mm).

My brother has always been a fan of the Flanker and decided to make a 200% version of an earlier depron indoor model that used the guts from a Silverlit twin and I persuaded him to build one for me
Came out at 550mm span and 660mm from nose to tail. Motive power comes from two HobbyKing 10 gram 2000 kv motor's running cut down normal and contra rotating 5 x 3 quad props. The good thing is that a single Plush 10 esc works perfectly. I'm running a 4 channel Orange RX and a couple of small digital servos. Nothing smaller available so I used a 500 3s pack.
I'm trying to persuade him to do a build log but in the absence of one I thought I'd post my maiden video. Paint to follow once I swap out the servo that failed at the end of the flight
Two are already up and flying at out indoor sessions (my brother and John Stennard of Q&EFI mag fame) and I'll be joining them on Friday. These might even replace our Sumo's as the weapon of choice for indoor combat.

did you scale up 200% or down 200%?

It's a 200% scaled up version of the original Aero Ace Toolbox designs.

Click on the 2nd pdf for the model named "Flankerish" and use something like Adobe 10, Scale and Tile or PosteRazor to up scale and print out plans.
