Ed, I have to ask maybe a silly question. Going back a few pages of your build, What was the reason for covering the the out side of the hull with the thick layer Spackel before epoxying the inside? Was just to prevent epoxy from running through any holes?

You are correct. It fill the voids and openings between the boards so the epoxy wont run through to the other side.
