Yes I will have a beam across the top of the sail, that is how you raise and lower the sails, witch is why I need 33 blocks, so I can set the sails.

doing the googlydoogly thing I think at times they might have set gaffs= gaffels
They fit the period and the design of the sails.
Just food for thought.
I very much like your ship, especialy your wood work.

Thank you for the complament, I'll see how she sails befor I spend the time making Gaff's, If she is a bit top heavy, but they would look good in static.

I mounted one of the double blocks just to make sure the scale looked right, before I made any more that were wrong.

I've mounted 15 of the 33 blocks I need, the mounting comes from pic's I've got of where they go.

Some pic's the other 3 are on the booms, and more to go. Mounting the shackels was the hard part.

I found a source for bright mettle blocks in Canada, Ron Burchett.
I still have to make contact with him so will see.

Well I talked to the man about the bright metal blocks, but I've heard not a word from him, so I've finished up mounting the ones I made, also cut in the boom rails for the sails to mount on the gaffs, cut out the sails, next to mount the sails.

Some pics.
