lead batteries parallel any disadvantages?

I have a few 12 v lead batteries of different age and condition.
Is there any disadvantage connecting them parallel ?

Doing so would reduce maintenance (only one set to charge) and combine there capacity right?

Yes you can. Just be aware that if you connect one with a high charge and one with a low charge there will be quick discharge load from the high into the low. If you can, try to discharge a high down closer to the low ones. After that you can connect them without much current sharing.

Also note that your charge time will be much longer.
