CR Contender CG

I'm trying to balance my newly acquired CR Contender. In the manual they say to put approx. 3 - 4 oz of lead up front. Anyone out there got a more accurate measure?

Thanks,
Mark

I say you should not risk hurting that plane and instead, sell it to me. No use taking un-neccessary risks!

Seriously, measure the wing chord at the root, and then figure out what 35% of that number is. Take that number and use it to measure the CG position from the leading edge. This will be a fairly safe position to start from. Nose heavy is certainly easier to contend with than tail heavy. Once you fly it this way, see how it handles and readjust to fit your personal likings.

Down load Sailplane Calc and do the calculations.

Basic CG is at the center of the wing rod, cg with wings on of course.

It can be flown aft of that, but start there.

Well, maidened the CR yesterday. Wind was about 8-10 and straight in. The plane flew absolutely perfect from launch. I add 2 clicks of down trim and she really started cooking. I set the CG at 35% of the root which put it right at the back edge of the wing rod. This took a total of 4oz of lead shot / epoxy up front. Thanks again for your help.
