Mini-Micro waterproof 5.8Ghz FPV kit - 200mw - 32$ >1km
I wanted a micro-standalone FPV kit but did not want to spend too much on it and most of all I wanted something waterproof so that I could use it on my kids boats (FT-009).
So after searching on the web and getting inspiration from some articles, here is my tutorial of a Micro-FPV-5.8-waterproof-cheap-200mw kit
Camera (3.7-5V) Really Cheap and fair Quality (better than the VA1100) + audio! Wide angle FOV but good.
5.8Ghz Tx 200mw FX758-2
You can use something even cheaper but I wanted robust ones and as I wanted to make 2 kits, I needed 2 antennas :
15$ for 2. LINK
Tx and camera are 5V, as I wanted a standalone kit with its own 1s battery I needed a step-up. For other configs (like using a 2S) you will need a step-down.
Why using a Regulator and not directly the 1S you ask ? Because you will loose power if under 4.5-5V and when the battery comes around 3.7V you will loose Video.
There are the popular polulu regs that work very well but for people not in the US (I live in Luxembourg) they are quite costly due to shipping (e.g.: RMRC: 3$ + 9$ shipping!)
So I found these cheaps 1A regs that are the same size of the 200mw module (which is handy, you will see):
6$ including shipping for 5 !!!: LINK
To connect the batteries and to make charging leads.
4$ for 20 sets ! LINK
Those give 15mn lifetime for the kit:
13$ for 5 LINK
So this gives you a 32$ kit with CL antenna which can adapt to any vehicle.
Letís heat the solder!
The blue bottle is anti-corrosion oil like Corrosion-X. You will also need Liquid Tape for those wanting to waterproof the kit.
Connecting elements :
The regulator has 2 outputs (OU+ / OUT-) which comes in handy, you can easily connect the module + (5V) and Ė (GND near 5V) to one output and the red (+) and black (-) from the camera to the other output.
You connect a pico connector to IN+ and IN-.
Make sure you can fold the module and the regulator on each other.
Audio from the camera (white) goes on the A6.5 of the module. Video (Yellow) goes on Vin.
Antenna (you have to cut it): center goes on ANT and shielding on GND or on the metal shield of the module.
For those not needing a waterproof kit, the hard part is over, just add paper tape to the module, fold the kit and just put heatshrink around it with the camera where you want it.
Soak everything (not the lens of the camera....) with corrosion-X and let it dry (do NOT forget the battery connectors and the battery istself)
Once dryed, put a layer liquid Tape on the regulator to isolate it from the module before folding.
Once itís dryed (10mn), fold and put the camera where you want it. I put it on top of the shield, I epoxied the isolated (piece of tape) microphone to the case not needing audio and use it as a small stand and .....audio still works
Soak everything in a single blob of liquid tape.
And Voila! You get an ultra light yet durable FPV kit which transmits on 5865Mhz (A Band).
To flatten the kit I used depron.
Waterproof proof video
My first test gave me 1km on a plane with the given antenna and the same kind of antenna on the receiver. So it satisfies all my needs, tell me if you get further.
For those wanting another frequency it gets tricky ! Indeed you have to unsolder the shield of the module (easy) and do some micro soldering using a fine tip and a Magnifying Glass (I managed to do it without one but I was lucky not to destroy the module)
More info here.
For those not wanting to DIY beware, do not take a random micro kit on the market, most are crap. But there is a standalone kit that is ok according to the reviews, the AOMWAY HM200 itís 53$ without antenna and battery but does 250mw (maybe no audio)
Thanks for reading me !

Can you pass along links to were I can order the components. I did build one but at a much height cost. Especially the regulator. The need for tiny to fit in the Syma X11 required it. U can PM me if you would rather not put it out to the public..

Finally had the time to record a video on my HK bonsai
