Printed out a shrunk down Optima decal sheet. Going to get started on another body that will have proper decals

Haven't gotten around to painting the other body yet, but I printed a second decal set and applied it to the yellow/silver lid. Adds a little character I think.

Nice, but on the pic the silver near the 5 decal looks like brown packing tape. Must be a shadow, right?

Yeah it's a shadow. Low light picture too. I'll get some better ones in the next few days.

Great work! Did you make any progress with the paintjob? The Mini-Z Buggy was one of my first Rc cars and is still one of my favorites. Hope you still enjoy yours!

Unfortunately the other body is still on the bench in its package. I will get to it some time this winter though. Definitely still enjoying the buggy. Probably my favorite RC, and definitely my favorite for indoor running.

I'm looking to get 4 of these for family fun this winter. I have the space in the basement to make a nice sized track. Any reason to hesitate pulling the trigger on 4 of them all at once?
Are there any noticeable differences besides the body and tires between the Optima, Laser, and Inferno?

Looking for some pics of DIY indoor tracks and some recommendations on rechargeable NiMh setups.

Where is http://shop.tinyrc.com/ located? Are they a good online source for purchasing the kits?

P.S. I just love the retro optima look.

Absolutely no reason to hesitate. They are amazing little buggies. No differences aside from those you mentioned and the Optima comes with the bigger front bumper.

Shop Tiny RC is an excellent store. I buy a lot of stuff from them on a regular basis. They are located in Ann Arbor MI. I highly recommend putting one of these on the cars. Especially any that don't have the larger front bumper.

I also suggest upgrading the motors. They are a bit on the slow side out of the box. For running on our home track the PN Racing 70T motor has been perfect. A good increase in torque and speed over stock, but still plenty drivable on tighter track layouts.

I love the retro Optima look as well. It's awesome! I use a bunch of different types of AAA batteries, and really don't notice much difference between the brands. I have some cheap chinese batteries that are almost as peppy as my Energizer batts. If I were buying more batteries I would go with these.

Have fun! 1/24 off road racing is a blast! Check out my thread here for what we have at home.
