Recent Builds, Peanut Found, Guillows Fairchild

I forgot to post these builds here. The first is the Peanut Found by Walt Mooney. Laser cut and built per the plans. She flies great and just won the 4th of July Walt Mooney contest. For that I won an original handmade Walt Mooney Trophy. The second is the Guillows laser cut Fairchild built per the plans with no modifications.

Nice work. Congrats on the Walt Mooney Trophy. I was wondering how you go from a paper plan to the file that you send to a laser cutter. Can you describe the process? What software does it require?

I love the detailing on the Found, how did you do the lettering/trim stripe?

Nice models! I think you build more planes in a month than I build in a year.

Did you use dope, a glue stick or white glue to attach the tissue and trim?

The Found stripe is just a decal printed on my printer and decal paper. I attach the tissue with 50/50 water Elmer's glue.

I was guessing you used dope to attach the tissue. I have never tried to used white glue on tissue. I will have to give it a try.

Your planes look great.

50/50 water/white glue is great for attaching tissue to frames. Its tackier than dope.

Dave,

Where did you get the laser cut kits for the Mooney's?

I trace over the parts on the plan in CorelDraw and send the file off to get cut. There are a lot of services out there that will cut your balsa if you send the file.
