Spektrum DX8 battery indicator
Guys, I just got this thing..Is like 5.1 volts normal on the gauge for a fully charged factory Ni-MH pack...? Seems like my DX6 would read like 5.6 or something with the 4AA NI-MH in it....thx..

If brand new it may take a few charging cycle for the battery to reach fully charge BUT I'm no battery expert.
I can tell you however that a 4.8v pack freshly off the charger could show near 6v and quickly drop around 5.5v and settle there for some time.
Knowing that 5.5 is normal for such pack consider the following. The DX8 as a manufacturing calibration tolerance of up to .3v volt on the display.
So your pack could very well be closer to 5.4v which sounds very normal for such pack. Only way to confirm how much difference you have is to use a DVM and test the voltage while the battery is under the radio's power load.
I would not worry about it, give it a couple of cycle and go from there. If the radio battery doesn't last long enough for you you can always get the lipo upgrade.
