If that's how you have to land in F3J, I guess I'm glad I never got in to it!

That tail actually looked ok on Lary's plane.

No - only me that lands that way...

But the point is that flapservos have a short lifetime in F3J models. Without servocovers and easy access to change servos you will have a problem with RDS.
F3B have 1m landing so you dont need to ping that nose to stop the model so much. In F3J we have to land inside 20cm radius (and TD even every inch) so heavy and big flaps will wear on the servos in time

Just was wondering since you said that the wing construction was similar to the Precision....
Obviously you were speaking more of layup and spar and joiner boxes...

Out landings in the distance task in F3B are why I prefer not to have my servos sealed in my F3B models. If a flap or aileron servo is stalled (stuck on something), it can be burned out before you get to the model. In my experience, I have seen more servos destroyed this way than on hard F3J landings.

Yes I thought the same thing. Not done much f3b yet, but even so it's obvious you can land well over 150m away. Potentially while other flyers still have minutes of flying left.

Yes.
One thing that is good with RDS is that torsion stiffness of the wing is better since there is no servo openings. But that can be fixed with layup and endresult is not heavier. But if you cut openings in a Pike Precision (servofailure) you will have to reinforce the openings.

Not all DLG guys use RDS.
With DLG, I see a trend steering back toward top driven wing servos if anything (Twister3 and Stoble the exceptions) , simplicity, weight savings and cost seem to be the issues mostly.
The new Pike looks nice for sure, whatever method they use to move the control surface will be a winner on that airframe, not sure it's going to make much difference other than in the price.

They are in development phase right now. But they produce some models as soon as possible for testing. I hope to get mine in mid february.

Hi Jojo

I am expecting my Perfection soon and really looking forward to flying it. The weather down here is ideal for testing.

As soon as I can I will post some results, after I talk with Samba of course.

Cheers
