converting Sig Spacewalker II to Electric

Has anyone made this conversion? What was the modification made for battery placement? What size electric did you use? Do you have any pictures of the conversion and battery placement?

Thanks for your reply. Who makes the plane you converted to electric? I'm concerned that the built up model by Sig will be a challenge for battery placement. I like the way you handled this in your build.

I don't remember the name of the company. Was a 1 man band and only did a few kits quite a while back.

I'm in the middle of completing a partial build I recently picked up. I plan to power it with a Tacon 160 and a pair of 5s 5000. I am using the same setup on my H9 Taylorcraft and it has plenty of power. I have a few pics of my progress so far if I get them to work.

Looks real nice. How are you handling the battery placement?

Two 5s 5000 batteries fit side by side on the angled tray with just enough clearance for the hatch, the life pack I use for the receiver sits in the small arched top section in front of the hatch. I haven't tried to balance anything yet, but that's as far forward as you can go without putting the batteries in the cowl.

I have a great planes stearman older kit weighs in around 18 lbs and I powered it withe the Tacon 160 and 2 5000 5s batteries. Had to use a HV esc and seperate bec, plane has plenty of power. Could the batteries on the spacewalker fit on a tray going into the forward cockpit with some modification? Thanks a lot with your help on this

The floor in the cockpit runs all the way to the firewall. From the cockpit area you could build a lower forward tray to slide them in on.
