COX used those mesh screens back in the 70's to help prevent burns. They were used in the "EZ Flyer" series planes like the Cessna and Cherokee etc...

I would not have removed the mesh - I've sold engines with them before and it adds about $20 to their value.

I would suggest MAs, cause thay have right size hole for cox, have good expirence with them etc.., and maybe take whole range of 1/2a props(from 5.5x4 to x4 or even 7x3)

You can check out the entire line at Zeke's park scale models. There is also Manzano lazer works, Mountain Models and Steven's Aero. Between them all you should be able to find several conversion project possibilities.
