Delta Valley Modelers Warbird Fun Fly April 20th Lodi CA

This annual Fun Fly is for gas and electric WARBIRDS and will be held at Kingdon Air Field, 12145 North DeVries Road, Lodi Ca. on April 20th. The gates open 8:00 with open flying at 9:00. There is parking for the R/Vs over night early birds but no hook ups. The event is free to all spectators with $10.00 landing fees. Lunch will be available on site and there will be a raffle.

You are welcome to bring planes for selling/swapping and there will be a "Garage Sale" at the site as well and you can participate in that. It should bring out more spectators who might see RC flying for the first time. For information call 209-476-8409.

There will be a Bar-B Que lunch available on site. Raffle on Saturday at 2:00. The runway is a full length runway so no matter how much space you need to takeoff or land we have it if your plane can fly. Combat ducted fans and turban powered jets are welcome along with warbirds from WWI, WWII, Korea, between the conflicts. Great people and great flying site. Come with a good attitude and help us make this a great event! Mike Heer

The event is now two weeks and one day away. We have a Zero and an Ultra Micro P-40 for the raffle along with the usual glue and other small items. We should have a nice assortment of warbirds flying including some jets, lots from World War II and some from WWI and the Korea conflict from the early 50s to today. If you need a long runway this is the event for you! Mike H
Remember swap meet is included so bring some money and some things to sell. I will have some real bargains for sale myself.

Some war birds were out this past weekend getting ready for the event. A couple of Corsairs and a large Spitfire patrolled the skies but found no enemy planes. Test out your fighters this coming weekend and join us on the 20th for a fun day of flying.

Five days until the event and the weather forecast is perfect.! Current prediction is for a relatively calm day as the high pressure system will be reestablished over our area after the winds of this past weekend. High of 80 degrees. Come out to fly warbirds, just to watch or to buy as some of us will have some real bargains available. Additionally, there is a full blown yard sale at the airport with all sorts of stuff not flying related for sale. Lunch and raffle also available. Landing fee is $20.00 but free to come and watch. Kingdon Airfield: DESCRIBED ABOVE!

This event was a total bust! I drove all the way out from Oakland only to find two grounded airplanes and a couple of grounded helicopters. No one was flying because it was "too windy." It was fine, especially for large scale warbirds. One person had a few RC related things for sale, but the rest was furniture and other crap. Would not recommend. An update would have been nice as this "event" was advertised here and in print.
