Another question.

There's snow up here.

Are people using sugru to cover up the antenna down at the bottom of one of the landing gears, or are they using something else?

Something that can be easily removed but water/snow proof?
I've dunked mine in the snow twice (buried the GoPro camera, too) with no noticeable effect. I was flying in below freezing temperatures however, so the snow was not slushy or wet.

I will bring a notebook and also setup the servo settings so its all covered.

But really it is stupid easy once you take a deep breath. pop the screws, the NAZA is under the hood, put two extension servo cables and pull them out the front gate or as some have made a hole in the side, Im not big on holes personally but sometimes they look cool. The big thing is that once you have the two axis cables installed, you are good to go. any type of servo can be hooked to the cables and you can have a lot of fun with servos balanced by the NAZA.

Yes yes yes.. step by step video.. I heard you. it will be good, and it will be useful regardless what gimbal you use, because its the same basic setup for the tony gimbal, the LL gimbal and mine.. and really any gimbal.
*** the big catch, that nobody is talking about is.. NAZA REALLY is not good at stabilizing gimbals, which is causing the rocking and slight pitching, naza is simply always a little behind.. but it is as good as its going to get with a NAZA driven system.
Well I don't know about others, but I don't expect it to be perfect. I am looking forward to making the best vids we can with the setup.

You guys are very talented and the stuff you're coming up with is great. Thanks for sharing and putting in the work.

Got my Phantom yesterday, connected it to the Naza assistant to ensure everything was ok and had a couple of excellent flights.Today I tried to connect again to the assistant but nada.Tried different usb ports, computers, and still nothing.Opened up the Phantom to check the usb connection and all seeems ok.When I connect the Phantom nothing happens in the device mgr.
I can open the assistant program but the Phantom does not appear as connected which makes sense since the usb connection has not been recognized. It is still flying well but the ability to connect is crucial for updates and calibration.
Any ideas fellas?
Thks

Question:

Does DJI advise pulling the props when running the Assistant Software?

Not a problem at all, but just wondering.

I don't unless I am updating the Naza. You could remove them to be safe since it is electronics after all and anything can happen

It is very wise to pull the props anytime you are working in the Assistant.

Not likely, but if for somereason it armed, it could be dangerous to you or anyone around. These things spin up and can become flying straight razors.....Better to be safe than sorry...! As long as you are getting the Green Blinking light (No Signal to the Motors) it should be safe, but when you disconnect it with the battery hot you could arm it by hitting the radio by accident, dropping it etc. JMO.......

I always remove them.

Just wondering if Naza tried to foolproof the Phantom with a new procedure here.

Kinda of glad it didn't because it isn't a prudent practice to leave the props on.

I noticed in Assistant that when you turned the TX off and then back on again in GPS Mode, the throttle was at zero. I've seen this also in my Assistant and it worries me that if I didn't bring the throttle back up immediately after turning the TX back on and toggle the the flight control switch S1 back to either GPS ATTI or ATTI, the the Phantom would drop like a rock.

Noticed in your Asst Screen that when you turned the TX off and then back on, the throttle remained at zero. I've seen this in my Asst screen also and am concerned that when I turn the TX back on, and toggle the mode switch to regain control of the Phantom, that if I don't bring the throttle up immediately, the Phantom will drop like a rock.

Try this, (worked for me in Win 7 32 and 64 bits):
1- Disconnect all. (Phantom - USB / BATTERY Cable )
2- If Driver already installed, then uninstall it (not the Naza utility)
3- Reboot PC
4- Install Driver (and wait completion... some minutes...)
5- Turn on TX then Phantom... wait test OK.
6- Connect if possible to ANOTHER USB port.
7- Wait for Windows check... search and autoconfigure driver.
8- Run (or install - run) NAZA utility

If you really want to turn off the transmitter. Then follow my steps.

1. turn off the transmitter and wait 5 seconds at least. notice the 5 seconds is the most important thing.
2. pull down your throtle stick and power on transmitter again. If you don't wait more than 5 seconds and turn on transmitter, the phantom will quit from fail-safe.
3. after the transmitter is ready, pull throtle to middle position.
4. If you want regain the control to phantom, switch GPS to ATTI. After that everything are normal.
