HK Pursuit

Hi all, I just pull the trigger on a HK Pursuit from TFL. I have done much research and have ordered a SeaKing 180 esc to go along with it. i am planning on running all stock hardware for it now and looking to upgrade later. For those that have the pursuit, can you recommend what would be the best up grades for it? Also, any tips or suggestions for the Pursuit is also greatly appreciated..

Thanks

Dillin

Bulletproof combo of choice has been the Leopard 4074 2200kv on 4s with the T180. It will put you in the high 40's.

The first thing you need to do is strengthen the motor mounts & battery tray.
You'll find that you can wiggle the motor from side to side & see the floor of the hull flexing & twisting. Plus the mount & motor tend to break away from the hull in your first big tumble.
I always add some lengths of 1/4" carbon rod along the mounts & floor of the hull. Makes everything strong & rigid.
Here's a link to a build I did of a Pursuit & a Delta Force Cyberstorm. It may give you a few ideas.

The next upgrade is a welded one piece 3/16" flex shaft if the boat has one of those 2 part drive systems in it. It makes removing & greasing the flex much easier.

Cheers.
Paul.

Here is our version of the Pursuit, running as a limited spec P-Mono using a UL-1 motor on 4S, 90 amp HobbyWing speed controller, and using a CNC 42mm 3 blade prop from Offshore Electric.

Pursuit P-Mono Test Run (0 min 46 sec)

Greetings fellow Pursuit owners.

I've just finished building mine and I have a question regarding the stock cooling configuration.

Is there any real advantage to having the motor mount cooling hooked up or would I get more efficient cooling by leaving it out of the loop?

I'll be running a 4s 5000 mah battery with a Leopard 4074 2150 kv vented motor, Seaking 180A and a Grim Racer 42x55 s&b prop.

I never run the mount cooling myself...........could offer minimal cooling if set up. If one is on the edge of having to use that to keep it in a proper temp zone the setup may be too "hot" to start with.

G'day Capt'n.
I've run them both ways in various boats from monos, hydros & cats etc. I can't tell the difference one way or the other.

Theoretically it should be more efficient without using the cooling plate as the water flow would be slowed down slightly by the extra resistance of two small nipples, the path through the mount & the extra waterlines.
The maximum volume of water travelling as fast as possible through the system leads to optimum cooling.

But they certainly are used when I run outrunner motors in the boats.

Thanks for the replies.

I could see it maybe being beneficial with the stock motor because it's not vented were as the Leopard I'll be running is.

I guess I'll just have to try it out both ways and decide which is best
