FT009 and FT012 running together

My brother had an FT012 and I bought an FT009 (because I thought he had an FT007!). We had a lot of fun running them off the breakwater at Pt Turton, South Australia. The FT012 is certainly faster but the FT009 has been more waterproof and reliable - and is still a lot of fun

Yes, I know we are in salt water. My FT009 went out of range in the middle of the video and I had to climb up the rocks to send enough signal to get it back. FT012 is black and the FT009 is green.

FT009 and FT012 together (12 min 44 sec)

It will not bind when the security is bypassed. Remove the mod and try again, it should fix your problem

I never though of that. Another safety device perhaps?

I never could get my FT009 to bind and ended out swapping out the works within it for a new TX and brushless system. I think I connected those safety wires together first thing, so that was probably the cause.

Yep. Had the same problem. But figured it out. Stock tx rx work good enough for me. Found no reason for an upgrade

Can anyone recommend the best way to do a brushless upgrade? I've been trying to figure it out for a long time but I keep running (floating??) into issues. Thanks

The translator uses some unique words sometimes, like "refrigerating" instead of "cooling", but your text is perfectly understandable.

Just pulled the trigger on my 1st boat. Looks like fun. Guess I will read the thread for mods and such.

Finally got around to install a new motor to try on my FT009. Its a 5200kv brushless beast! Not sure when I'll hit a local lake yet.

I've got a brushless 3700kv motor from an esky belt cp V2, catch is, it's an outrunner.

Figure I can do anything with a FT007 or FT009 hull, given it's an outrunner instead of inrunner?

I've got a spare in-line head-lock gyro that goes with, which I thought might be really interesting for the rudder control

I ran an outrunner before on the ft009. Problem is will is self right and fit the mounting holes? I had to mod the mounting holes with brackets. It would not self right either.

It should work fine in the FT009 (the FT007 is too small). I have a 450-size outrunner in my FT012 and in my smaller Barbwire. Any idea the KV rating of your motor?
