Im really thinking about a better charger , i heard i could then charge 2 6 cell batts in 15 minutes! That would be awesome.
I think my gens ace died permaturely due to "battery abuse". They were 2200mac 25c, at first that was enough power for my helis with the motors and flying style in the early days of me learning to fly. As I upgraded to more demanding motors and started pull more tricks that pulled more juice from the packs, the 25c just could not keep up. I also used to fly my packs until the esc decided it was time for a soft cut. Then I decided to run them in series in my 500. That killed one of the packs right away. So, if you take care of them, they should last a long time. Even with all the abuse i gave them, they still did not puff at all.

I'm also looking into a 'high powered' charger, hopefully a dual charger with around 200w-400w per side. I dont really need it to charge at home, so wont need the power supply. They are expensive when you add charger plus power supply. I can get by pre charging packs a day or two ahead of flight day. But at fun flys and demos, where the event last all day long, I would need to recharge packs at the field. I have a hyperion 6060 on the way, and if its good quality, i'll look into their more powerfull units.

Then the power supply will be 70.00 , im a home charger lol
But this may have to wait till xmas due to my battery order and new nano which is really fun.

2618v rx

I installed and flew about 5 battery packs through the hk450 with the 2618V rx and it flew great.
My flight times were averaging 5 min. I thought that was ok,but off the same batteries on the 2614V rx on the 450pro heli my flight times were averaging 8 min.
So yesterday i flew the 450 w/2618V and it got 5:25 minutes of flight on it until it lost power than sat it down and took the battery out and put it in my 450pro w/2614V and flew that one for another 3:45 minutes.
I then took the tail assy off the hk450 and the 2618V and installed the 2614v rx and brushless tail motor and whammo. I am now getting over 8 min. of flight on it.
before I have changed out the tail assy 2 times but it still would only get just over 5 min of flight.
The 2618V was stable and the tail held great after piro's but for some reason the 2614v installed in the same heli with nothing changed, but the tail motor and rx was just more stable and easier to fly. I cant put my finger on it but i am keeping the 2614 rx on it with the tail motor and selling the 2618V.

What about gear mesh? Are there any gears meshed too tightly? Also, is there any friction in the tail assembly? When you put on the brushless motor, you may be merely eliminating a part somewhere that is sucking up power. Just a thought.

Never touched the gear gap between changing the rx's.
As far as the tail. I changed out 2 brand new tail assy., tail servos and checked for binding and everything was working smoothly.

Thanks for the info.MD
Sure wasn't happy to hear that since I just reordered a 2618v for my TT tail version 450 HK build. Do you think the 2618v is sucking up the battery? Or just the tail setup? Or could it possibly be the added tail servo needed for the TT setup consumming the battery power.
Just some thoughts....

Not exactly sure. All i know is that ever since i started using it that all my batteries started using the first 2 cells up faster than the 3rd. I took the plastic tail assy off and put on a new Align tail assy with no change. I didnt change anything except the rx and the belt and tail assy.

So it's a belt not a TT tail drive?

Driving the tail servo and the belt drive could cost more juice than running the brushless tail motor alone. So, that's probably why you saw decreased flight times.

That power supply won't cut the mustard, not for that 1000 Watt charger. The power supply is only a 350 Watt supply, you need a 1000 Watt supply which Heli Heli doesn't sell & is out of stock on the 350 Watt.

I know of a place that sells a 1000 Watt charger & power supply plus gives you the balance/parallel multi charging setup for a total of $300.00

Let me find the link & I'll post it up here.

Don't foget the power supply 1000 Watts.

I'm using the smaller Voltz charger w/one 350W power supply & charge my 6s 3300 mah batt @ 10a in less than 15 min. Dustin only uses one 350w power supply with the bigger charger with similar results. That charger will work w/2 350W power supplies. It's a good charger. I recommend it. Nice to be able to get IR readings on each cell on your batts. You get a much better idea on the health of your lipos.
I posted a pic of my setup on this thread a while back when I first got it.

I can only run one power supply for now and then upgrade to a second power supply later.
