Here are some of the equipment I have:

CC Ice 100 ESC
60 amp Turnigy ESC

Batts
4s 2200
3s 3350
4s 3300
3s 2200

I am wanting to getting speeds over 120 without mods. What motor should I get and use any of the above equipment? Should I get a whole new setup what should I get

Hey guys I am totally new to whole FJU realm and I am currently having a problem with the spinner. Under load it seems the rotor pulls into the motor and the prop will strike the mount plate screws. The instructions are useless so I am asking if there is a correct way to install the motor, spinner and plate? I'd imagine I would need to find the right amount of clearance for setting the spinner but I don't think it should be hanging on the edge of the motor shaft. Any thoughts guys?

You can definitely do it with those parts. I ran a HET 2w-23 with a 5.2x5.2 on 4s and got around 130mph flat and level, 140+ in a dive. Pulls about 85 amps static if I recall correctly.

How much does a funjet weigh? Whats a good weight to thrust ratio with one of these planes? Thanks

Where's the best place to buy a Funjet these days? Are they discontinued? Love my X-83 and that is discontinued and would love to replace it with a funjet when she dies.

I was getting about 105A static on 4S and a 7.4X8. Considering you'' get about a 10% drop in flight this prop will be fine on 5S. Maybe even a 7X10 if you're carefull.
With 4S and 7.4X8 the motor was barely warm - plenty potential left.
BTW - I got 194mph on that set up (down wind with a dive). If didn't ever do a level flight test but I reckon its about 175mph.

I put the 4s batts in to see what it would take to get the CG right. The 5s 3000mah are about 150g heavier than the 4s, so it should help with the balance.

Good to know. I've got a CC 100a that's going in there. I'm only shooting for around 160mph or so initially, then I'll prop up from there.

KV of that motor is a bit high, might be ok on 3s and the quoted 5.5x4.5 prop but as it's been said bigger props are better. Pretty sure it'll work, just don't think it's 'ideal'.

Always found Turnigy esc's to be ok (good value for money)

What C rating are those lipo's, if they're 20c then you're going to squeeze the life out of them

Get a Mega 16/25/2CE, which is 3, 4 and 5s capable (I've not run 5s myself tho). It's the cheapest Mega that's suitable for 130mph+ at around 74 euro's + postage. HET motor's work ok but I got through 2 HET's (3W) to 1 Mega (16/15/3) on a pylon racer.

What would you recomend that is as cheap as that or cheaper?
